The patches for Evolve are going into spring break – in summer they will fundamentally revise the game. We have the known details so far.
Spring break for Evolve – big patch in summer
Since the release of Kala and the Elder Kraken, things have been a bit quieter around the 4v1 monster shooter Evolve. Now it has also been announced in the game’s official forum that they will put the patches on hold for a while. Not because they are not supporting the game any further, but because there will be a major overhaul in summer that will not only rearrange the game’s balance but also change numerous mechanics to make the matches more balanced and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Gradually, they are already announcing the planned changes in the forum – because the developers are still diligently responding to the community’s questions.
- The Wraith will receive a significant overhaul of its abilities. Above all, “Decoy” will be revised: The Wraith will no longer be cloaked, and player attacks will no longer break the Decoy – it is now an effective and offensive aid in combat.
- Jetpacks will be noticeably revised. It should now be easier to get 4 complete evades from a full tank. Until now, only 3 were possible, as evading consumes a bit more energy.
- The medic Lazarus will be revised. His revival glove will have a long cooldown, and hunters will now receive a “Strike” (i.e., reduced max HP) when he revives them from death. If he brings them back from a downed state, they will not receive a penalty.
- The talent points for monsters will be altered. The first point of an ability teaches the attack itself, the 2nd point increases utility (radius, speed), and only the 3rd point increases the damage of an ability.
Whether all these changes will go live as planned is still uncertain. There is no fixed release date for version 9.0.0 yet, but they are aiming for the “upcoming summer” – sometime between July and September. Whether this will also involve another season pass or at least the implementation of further adaptations is also not yet clarified.
