With Diablo Immortal, the popular action RPG series officially arrives for mobile devices with iOS and Android for the first time. Moreover, the game will become a real MMO and aims to entice players with a ton of new features.

Diablo Immortal: FAQ – The most important information at a glance
On June 2, Diablo Immortal will officially launch for iOS and Android. The PC version will then enter beta. The servers will go live at 7:00 PM German time.
There will be closed tests before the release, but no open beta.
Diablo Immortal is completely free-to-play but will have a shop. The developers have talked shortly before release about microtransactions.

The release date of Diablo Immortal
When does Diablo Immortal come out? On June 2, Diablo Immortal will be released for iOS, Android, and PC. Mobile users will already be able to play the launch version, while the PC client will still be in open beta.
Since the progress will not be reset for the PC release (there will be no “wipe”) and the game does not need to be purchased, we consider this a soft launch. Such things happen frequently with free-to-play titles.

Will there be an open beta and how do I participate?
Current status: The last beta ran from November 2021 and ended in January 2022 with a stream that revealed what happens next. However, there was no really new information provided there.
An additional test is unlikely to occur before the release, at least not during an open beta. You can already pre-register now:

You can already pre-download Diablo Immortal on your PC via the Battle.net app. Just select the game from the list of all games and choose the option “install PC beta.”

Price and costs of Diablo Immortal
What will the game cost me? You can play Diablo Immortal completely for free. The MMO will be free-to-play but, according to current information, will have a shop. You can buy various items with real money there.
In the last tests, some of these items were not purely cosmetic but provided certain advantages. For example, there are items that allow you to improve your loot from certain content.
There are currently big discussions in the community about possible pay-to-win mechanics. Reports suggest that it might take about 40 years to get the best items. However, it remains to be seen whether this holds true for the release version. Final prices and shop contents are still unknown.
Do I have to pay? According to community beta testers, you do not need the “best gear” to compete effectively. While there are PvP and tougher PvE content like raids, regular finds of items that do not require extra payment are sufficient.
A certain grind is necessary, but that is generally part of Diablo. Paying players can only reach the last few percentages of improvement faster. However, this is said to be only a deciding factor for very few players.
Furthermore, Diablo Immortal offers a battle pass, which, according to the latest information, includes both a free and a paid path. Here, you can earn certain content without paying for it.
Gameplay and content of Diablo Immortal
How does Diablo Immortal play? Diablo Immortal follows the tradition of the series and throws you into an action RPG or MMO with an isometric perspective (“viewed from above”). You control your character either using the touch screen of your device, with a controller, or on PC with a mouse and keyboard.
You currently have 6 known classes to choose from, which also existed in Diablo 3, as well as a possible additional class:
- Necromancer
- Crusader
- Demon Hunter
- Monk
- Barbarian
- Sorcerer
- Additionally, a hint of a new class has already been found in the game data: the Blood Knight, a kind of melee vampire

Unlike normally in Diablo and generally MMOs, you do not need alternative characters or “twinks.” You will simply be able to switch your class. According to recent information, this will happen “between each week and each month,” so not randomly or daily. The exact limit is still being determined.

The story of Diablo Immortal: Cycle of Strife, PvP, and PvE
What is the Cycle of Strife? The biggest feature of Diablo Immortal is the Cycle of Strife. Here, 2 factions battle against each other: the ruling Immortals and the attacking Shadows. The respective clans (guilds) fight for control in huge PvP battles.
Every week, the best Shadow clans can attack the ruling Immortals. In teams, they compete against each other. If they win enough rounds, they can challenge the leader of the Immortals. In a 30vs1 battle, they will then be a real raid boss with special abilities.
If the Shadows win here as well, it will be decided through a battle royale who the next ruler will be. Participants receive a special buff that showcases their skills. Immortals also gain access to special dungeons and raids.
The Cycle of Strife itself is the actual story of Diablo Immortal. The Immortals were put in place to protect Sanctuary. The Shadows are meant to constantly test them so they do not become overconfident. The whole story takes place temporally between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3.
As the developers already revealed to us in an exclusive interview before the release, the Cycle of Strife is set to be fundamentally revised. The focus will then be more on guilds. However, we cannot say with certainty how this will look at release.
What other content is there? Diablo Immortal relies on MMO content with all its features. Accordingly, there’s a ton of content for groups. However, familiar content from earlier Diablo installments remains:
- There is a campaign that is said to take about 10 hours if played continuously
- Rifts and bounties will accompany you during leveling
- Paragon levels are also returning
- Dungeons are designed for 4 players
- Raids are available for 8 players and with various difficulty levels
- Immortals can participate in raids for up to 48 players
- PvP is purely a group matter and intended for clans – but is also optional
Items can drop everywhere, as is customary in Diablo. Some activities inherently have higher chances of good loot, but you should not be forced into PvE or PvP to obtain everything.
