The new season of the Twilight is approaching in Destiny 2, as the current season is in its final days. Some content will not make it into the new Season 9. Bungie has now explained exactly which ones it is.
Destiny 2 is cutting content? Even before the release of Shadowkeep, the Franchise Director Luke Smith explained that Destiny 2 could start cutting some old content or activities seasonally to make room for new content.
This is not only to provide variety, but also for technical reasons, Destiny 2 cannot continue to grow indefinitely.
And soon it will be time; then Destiny 2 will cut some content at the end of Season 8. But which ones are they exactly?
What disappears at the end of Season 8? In the current “This Week at Bungie” blog, the studio has specifically addressed this question. The following will no longer be available to Guardians in the new Season 9:
- The free and premium rewards from the Season Pass of the outgoing Season 8
- The possibility to obtain the exotic hand cannon Eriana’s Vow
- The catalyst quest for Eriana’s Vow
- The seasonal activity Vex Offensive (probably also the activity-specific weapons)
- Vex Data Seeds (the weapon bounties) from Ikora
- The Vex invasions on the Moon
- The seasonal artifact Eye of the Tormentors
- Power bonuses of the seasonal artifact (most likely including seasonal mods)
- Season-specific triumphs as well as the seal and the title Immortal
So if you still have something to do in the current Season 8, you should hurry: 6 things you should quickly complete before the end of Season 8 in Destiny 2
By the way: The exotic weapon Eriana’s Vow and the associated quest for its exotic masterwork catalyst are expected to be obtainable later through an alternative means. When and how exactly it will be, Bungie has not yet announced. Players who have already started this quest can continue and complete it even after the end of Season 8.
