In Call of Duty, every player is somehow an action hero. However, since the start of Mid-Season 3 in Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, well-known heroes from film and television are actually in the game – and they bring an event with which you can unlock many cosmetics. MeinMMO shows you tasks and rewards.
What’s it about? The Mid-Season of Season 3 of Call of Duty brought new content, many balance changes, and a significant dose of nostalgia. Two popular action heroes from the 80s are coming to the game in their prime and are now available as operators in CoD: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War – Rambo and John McClane from “Die Hard”. Here are the patch notes for the Mid-Season:
But even without spending money on the operators, you can grab some movie-worthy cosmetics. Currently, the event “80s Action Heroes” is running, inviting you to unlock thematic rewards through specific challenges. MeinMMO shows you the tasks, rewards, and details about the event.
Warzone: 80s Action Heroes – Tasks and Rewards
What do the tasks in Warzone look like? In total, there are 9 tasks, and each will yield a reward. Once you have completed all the tasks, you will also receive a weapon blueprint for the sniper rifle Pellington.
- Earn a Starter Medal by being the first team to get a kill
- Achieve 15 kills with explosive weapons or primary equipment
- Collect 50 tokens in the event mode “Power Grab”
- Reach the final circle 5 times in “Power Grab”
- Eliminate 25 enemy agents during the public weapon trade event
- Survive a jump from the roof of the Nakatomi building to the ground
- Complete one of the three side missions in the Nakatomi building
- Collect 3 Rambo prisoner tokens (at the new survival camps scattered across the map)
- Achieve 3 kills with the new combat bow killstreak
The tasks are mostly self-explanatory, but the 5th with the “public weapon trade event” is somewhat unclear. You need to complete one of the side missions at the Nakatomi building – Deal Gone Wrong. Check out our guide – Warzone: Opening Safes in the Nakatomi Building – for the details.
Rewards in Warzone:
- 2 talismans
- 3 calling cards
- 2 emblems
- 2 stickers
- For completion, a weapon blueprint for the Pellington
Cold War: 80s Action Heroes – Tasks and Rewards
What do the tasks in Cold War look like? In Cold War, you can also complete 9 tasks to collect a total of 10 rewards. The weapon blueprint for completion is for the tactical rifle DMR 14.
- Complete 7 matches of an event mode in multiplayer or reach at least level 5 in zombie mode
- Win 3 matches of an event mode in multiplayer or reach round 15 in zombie mode 3 times
- Achieve 100 kills in event modes in multiplayer – “Slaughter” medals from zombie mode also count (eliminate 5 zombies quickly in a row)
- Earn 25 “Bombastic!” medals with explosives in multiplayer or zombie mode (usually called popcorn medals)
- Earn 25 “Become War Yourself” medals with automatic weapons in multiplayer or zombie mode – likely the Hunter medal: Eliminate at least 2 enemies per match that are marked by spy planes
- Get 25 “Fire at Will” medals while using the Reaper (Shredded medal: 10 rapid kills in zombie mode or 2 rapid kills in multiplayer)
- Earn 25 “Personal” medals with melee weapons in multiplayer – likely the “Up Close” medals with melee weapons
- Get 10 times 3 kills without dying in multiplayer – “Field Rabbit” medals in zombie mode also count (20 zombie kills without damage)
- Earn 10 “Crushed” medals with the tomahawk in multiplayer or zombie mode (one opponent in MP, 3 opponents quickly in zombies)
The tasks in Cold War are not quite as clear. While the event is running, the XP reward medals have different names, but the developers do not specify which medals are meant. In our research, we have clarified most of them. If anything changes, we will update that here in the article. Feel free to write to us in the comments if you have had other experiences.
Rewards in Cold War
- 2 calling cards
- 1 arcade game for the barracks
- 1 accessory (watch)
- 2 stickers
- 2 talismans
- 1 emblem
- For completion, a weapon blueprint of the DMR 14
You have 14 days for the event and the unlocks – it ends on June 3 at 6 AM. So if you want to grab some of the goodies, you should get started quickly. Overall, the tasks are not too difficult or require much grind. A nice addition to what is overall a strong mid-season update.
MeinMMO author Jürgen Horn could even be prompted by the update to start playing Warzone himself. The Nakatomi Plaza from “Die Hard” is absolutely cult for him and a good reason to dive into Warzone.
