Many fans are eagerly waiting for Season 5 of The Boys, which starts in March. But the much better superhero series from Amazon continues next week and MeinMMO editor Niko can hardly wait.
Which series is it about? Amazon has been able to celebrate great successes in recent years with two superhero series. On one hand, there is The Boys. The satirical action series starts on April 8 with Season 5. This will also be the finale.
A few weeks earlier, however, it will continue on March 18, 2026, with Invincible. And even though The Boys is a damn good series, I’m actually looking forward to Invincible even more.
Two completely different series
What is Invincible about? Invincible is based on a comic series by Robert Kirkman. He is known for the comic series The Walking Dead, which was also adapted into a series.
Invincible focuses on Mark Greyson. His father is the legendary Omni-Man, the strongest superhero on Earth. He has been waiting for years to get his powers, and when the time comes, he only wants to follow in his father’s footsteps.
However, his father hides a dark secret, and Mark’s journey as a superhero becomes ever greater, with the threats to Earth and the people he loves becoming increasingly dangerous.
What does MeinMMO editor Niko like so much about Invincible? Invincible is not just a completely different series than The Boys as an animated series. While The Boys, as a satire, deals primarily with social criticism and dark humor, Invincible is a deeply personal story.
Mark is not just a superhero; his growth as a person is the main highlight. It’s about his relationships, his trauma, and indeed his responsibility.
Invincible is more of a classic superhero series, just in cartoon form for adults who have grown up with animated series. Not only the battles are aimed at an adult audience, but also the themes and dialogues.
The characters have more depth than in The Boys and are also much more likable. Even without powers, one sometimes finds oneself in Mark’s problems, and that’s exactly what makes the series so memorable.
The ratings also speak for Invincible
How is Invincible rated compared to The Boys? If you look at the critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, Invincible as an entire series has a 99%. This includes Seasons 1 to 3:
- Season 1 has a rating of 98% with 86 reviews
- Season 2 has a rating of 100% with 42 reviews
- Season 3 has a rating of 100% with 27 reviews
Also The Boys has a lower but still excellent overall rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes:

- Season 2 has a rating of 97% with 104 reviews

When does Invincible continue? Season 4 of Invincible starts next week on March 18, directly with 3 episodes. So if you are waiting for Season 5 of The Boys, Invincible is the perfect bridge, as both series are quite good in their own ways.
