Hollywood star Nicolas Cage will be landing as a crossover in Dead by Daylight. A developer now reports how Cage is getting involved in the role.
What kind of game is this? Dead by Daylight is an asymmetric horror game where a killer tries to take out multiple survivors. The game has seen various crossovers, from Freddy Krueger to the Demogorgon from Stranger Things to Ash Williams from Evil Dead.
A teaser trailer revealed a few days ago that now actor Nicolas Cage would land in Dead by Daylight. And no, not in the form of any role – he will simply be Nic Cage, the actor.
Overall, the crossover is well-received by fans of the series, as Nic Cage has gained cult status over the years and is now a welcome character in DBD. The developers are also singing his praises.
There’s no one who sounds like Nic Cage, so Nic Cage handles it himself
This is what the developers say: As PC Gamer reports, game director Mathieu Cote had plenty of enthusiasm for Cage. “He has such an iconic voice and such an iconic way of expressing himself. We couldn’t do it without him,” said Cote.
That’s why they also moved away from the usual approach for voice acting in other crossovers: “In some instances, we’ve used other people for the screams and grunts because it can be extremely taxing and takes a toll on people,” Cote explains.
Not so with Nic Cage: “But in this case, Mr. Cage told us that there has never been a sound-alike for Nic Cage’s voice, and that we won’t have one now either.” Instead, Cage himself thoroughly approached the microphone: “So he was so generous to record every single grunt, scream, and effort that you will hear in Dead by Daylight.”
The exact details of the crossover will be announced in early July. However, it can be assumed that Cage will have a fan or two once the actor is available in the game.
