A pro player in Destiny 2 has sparked a heated debate on social media. The support Exo “The Divinity” is said to be nerfed. While many fans of the shooter vehemently reject the suggestion, even veteran “Datto” does not think the idea is bad.
What discussion is taking place? On September 9th, the multiple World-First winner and professional player “Saltagreppo” shared his perspective on Twitter regarding the supposedly strongest support Exo in Destiny 2.
He asked the community what they think about a nerf of the raid Exo, as it is way too strong in the endgame. His concern was that the Exo weapon simplifies many boss fights. Every Guardian can thus deal damage to a boss even with poor aim. This, in his opinion, should not be the case.
This suggestion has caused many angry Guardians to storm Twitter to express their dissatisfaction. While the majority of the community votes against it, Datto, a veteran from Destiny’s history, also has an opinion on the nerf proposal.
Many Guardians want a nerf, but few admit it
Who is Datto? The Twitch streamer “Datto” is a long-standing member of the Destiny community. He was already present in Destiny 1 and gained some notoriety for being the Guardian who always missed winning a World-First race by just a few seconds.
For this reason, Datto’s opinion is an important and neutral standpoint for many Guardians that should not be overlooked. As the debate ignited on Twitter, the Twitch streamer also wanted to share his perspective.

What does Datto say? Datto divides the discussion in his video into two parts. The first part relates to the perspective of the Guardians who resist. The second part pertains to his opinion. Essentially, he presents the proposal by pro Saltagreppo as “a rich person’s problem”.
Salt, like other pro players, belongs to the minority. They also have claims and desires, but as Datto states in his video, “the community is not interested”.
The majority of Destiny 2 players are not sweatlords or talents who master raids in an hour. They are part-time Guardians who occasionally manage one raid per week. The Divinity indeed helps players get through endgame content faster, who find it harder to consistently deal good damage.
Datto can understand this, yet he still supports an adjustment of the weapon – he just never had the desire to voice it. Many Guardians, according to him, “cannot see the forest for the trees” and do not understand the problem this gun creates, says the streamer.
But why should he voice it just to get caught up in pointless discussions that only drain his energy? He is no longer the young guy from 2016 and therefore decided against making his nerf proposal public.
Datto is not the only one wanting the nerf: Datto himself says he knows many Destiny Guardians who also favor a nerf, but due to the community and their reactions, it is impossible to name these suggestions without being torn apart.
The community loves things that make fighting easier. Any changes that prevent that and bring some difficulty into the game are met with outrage from the fans. This is Bungie’s fault, Datto claims, because they prefer to cuddle the Guardians rather than making their path to loot harder.
Whether The Divinity will be nerfed or not remains up to the development team. However, if Bungie decides to do so, the community will not welcome the change with joy, that much is certain.
What do you think of Datto’s opinion? Do you also think it is just a “rich person’s problem” and Bungie should leave the gun alone? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
