The famous paladin Leeroy Jenkins has a new location in World of Warcraft. As it should be, he at least has chicken with him.
Currently, World of Warcraft is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the MMORPG. There are some in-game activities for this event. In addition to a classic version of the Alterac Valley, there are three LFR raids where numerous bosses from the past can be battled. This will even be rewarded with a mount that looks like Deathwing. But there are also other small Easter eggs and references from the past to be found – just like Leeroy Jenkins.
Who is Leeroy Jenkins? Most people should know Leeroy, as he has become somewhat of an internet legend. He was a paladin player who became famous for rushing into the “Upper Blackrock Spire” dungeon during the vanilla era of WoW into the room with the dragon eggs. Instead of listening to his comrades’ strategy, he simply shouted his name “Leeeeeroy Jenkins!” and charged in. Of course, he and all the other group members died in the process. After complaints from the group, he sheepishly said, “At least I got chicken …”
The corresponding internet clip was widely shared – even the re-upload from 5 years ago has already garnered over 14 million views.
Even if the whole situation was staged, Leeroy became extremely famous. Most WoW players know him, and in Hearthstone, he even received his own card.
Where is Leeroy in WoW? During the birthday event, Leeroy can now be found hanging out in the Caverns of Time, where he has his own vendor stand. We have marked his location on the map here:
As is fitting for Leeroy, he of course has his chicken at his side and also sells roasted chicken. Even that has a reference to his past – in the description it says: “My chicken is so good, it’s worth dying for!”
Basically, there is currently a lot going on in the Caverns of Time because there are special vendors, a dance club, and Chromie is also present. So it’s worth taking a look as long as the event runs until early January.
