An emote falls victim to patch 9.1.5 in World of Warcraft. In the future, you won’t be able to show other players what you think of them by spitting.
Patch 9.1.5 is live on the test servers, and immediately a few new features have been noticed. Blizzard is not only adding features with the update, but also removing a few things. The spit emote has been removed and can no longer be used – something that many players find silly.
What happened? The PTR for patch 9.1.5 has been online for some time, and the dataminers from wowhead immediately searched the game data for changes. In addition to renaming some questionable achievement names (like “Bros. before Ho Ho Hos”), something else was discovered: The emote “/spit” has been removed and can no longer be used. It is neither found in the emote list in the chat window, nor can it be manually typed in.
Why is Blizzard removing the emote? Blizzard has not provided a specific reason for this so far. However, the emote was already a problem in World of Warcraft Classic. It was used to humiliate players who had purchased the shop mount. Some even wrote an automated process using add-ons, so that players with the mount were automatically targeted and spat on.
This is how the community reacts: At least in the comments on wowhead, people are not very enthusiastic about the change. Many players are sure that they will just switch to another emote or manually type in the action. That would at least still be readable by players of the same faction.

So if anyone urgently wants to spit at someone or something, they should do it quickly – because soon it won’t be possible anymore.
