Destiny 2 is finally set to receive real transmog. Players are eager for new information, and finally Bungie is speaking up after a long silence, but they struggle to provide solid details.
This is the feature players are excited about: Destiny 2 is finally supposed to get a proper transmog feature announced by Destiny head Luke Smith in May 2020. Since then, however, the topic has gone quiet – at least officially.
The announcement brought joy to guardians, as players know and love transmog from many other MMORPGs and MMOs.
This is useful when the new armor is stronger or at a higher level but does not appeal visually. This way, players can look how they like without sacrificing the power of new items.
This is why players are upset: Bungie has remained silent on the topic for months. It is only known that the new system is expected in Year 4. So far, Destiny 2 only has a stripped-down version of gear transformation.
Through ornaments, certain armors can already be placed as skins over legendary armors. However, only a few armors are available as ornament skins: Most are armors from the Eververse (in-game shop) or the Season Pass. Many of the rare and especially good-looking outfits that players work hard for cannot be used as skins – such as raids or Trials armor.
These armors clog the guardians’ vaults, because even if they are not useful level-wise, players do not want to part with their achievements. The announced transmog feature raised hopes for empty vaults and cool, strong armors.
Players now want to know if they can still use armors for transmog once destroyed but registered in the collection – that is, whether it is sufficient to have once owned them. Or whether one actually needs to have a physical copy somewhere in their inventory to use this item for transmogrification.
Guardians are constantly asking via reddit and official forums for updates on the transmog topic. One such post recently caused a stir again. A simple question was raised:
