If someone wants to vent their anger about a computer game, they usually write an intense forum post, an email, or a letter. A fan of EVE Online sent the developers penises.
EVE Online game designer Brenton “CCP Larrikin” Hooper was surprised when he received a letter from the Icelandic customs authority. A package had arrived for CCP Games, but without an invoice. And without an invoice, nothing can be delivered, because in Iceland, taxes are applied to shipments. Therefore, Hooper asked the customs officials to please open the package to see what was inside.
Rubber penises for the developers
The customs authority then wrote to him that the package contained two bags of candy, the contents of which were rubber penises. Additionally, there was penis-shaped confetti included. There was also a note that said “Eat a bag of dicks” – which means “Eat a bag of penises!” When Hooper posted this on Reddit, the person who had sent the penises actually came forward and posted the necessary invoice of $38. However, Hooper had already informed customs to dispose of the penises.
Creative criticism
This is not the first time something like this has happened. Last year, CCP Games received mail containing a huge cardboard penis. Community manager Paul “CCP Falcon” Elsy revealed that he had also received such mail before. However, he did not want to go into detail about what was in the package. He only said that liquids were involved.
At least some of those who criticize EVE Online are quite creative …
