Bots are a big problem in the space MMO EVE Online. The developer studio CCP Games has now published a list of the 25 alliances that use the most bots.
What has CCP Games shown? A chart has been released, listing the 25 alliances of the MMO EVE Online, from which the most players have used bots that have subsequently been banned.
The list includes data from approximately 16 years, according to CCP Games. The chart does not indicate which alliances currently have the most bots! Many of the organizations no longer exist.
EVE Alliances in the Spotlight
What is special about the list? The list names the alliances publicly. Thus, CCP Games essentially shames bot users in EVE Online.
This list was already shown by the developer studio at the last EVE Fanfest – but without names.
What does the chart reveal? The pie chart indicates that primarily those organizations that rent Null-Sec space have used bots.
What is Null-Sec space? This area of the galaxy can be claimed by alliances, and it also contains very valuable resources. Here, uncontrolled, open PvP occurs.
Why rent this space? It is difficult, especially for small alliances, to hold space in Null-Sec for long, as the larger organizations are simply too powerful.
Therefore, there is the option to rent areas controlled by large alliances. Then, even as a small organization, one can mine resources, but a portion of the profits goes to the “landlord.” It is a win-win situation.
Because there is so much to gain in Null-Sec space and the “landlords” basically do not care about the “tenants,” many botters take the opportunity to make a lot of money.
What is so bad about botting? Botters operate multiple accounts in the game. This way, they can sometimes automatically generate a lot of revenue in the game in an unauthorized manner. Essentially, it is cheating.

This Could Have Consequences
What consequences does the publication of the chart have? Botting is considered a disgrace in EVE Online. Anyone labeled as a botter has a problem, as other players might be angry with them because of it.
Therefore, the alliances named in the list might now face some issues with other EVE players.
How does the community react? According to Twitter, EVE players are divided in opinion regarding the publication of the chart with names. Some feel that this “shaming” was unnecessary, while others welcome the decision. Generally, the belief is that CCP Games needs to take more action against botters in EVE Online.
