Fans of EVE Online are talking about a blow to the German community. The fan page Schildwall.info is shutting down its service.
The EVE community may be smaller in comparison to that of WoW or League of Legends, but it is dedicated. And as a newcomer, you need it to find your way into the complex sci-fi MMORPG, you need the community’s help to get by in EVE Online. Over the years, several fan sites have emerged in German. Part of the community met on schildwall.info.
The operator has now closed the gates. The reason for the frustration is probably the reaction from CCP to proposals to modify the German voice of the AI Aura.
CCP, the developers of EVE, said: The proposed changes would only have a minimal impact. Therefore, we have decided to leave it as it is.
On the closed fan site, the message reads: Our information here had only a minimal impact. Therefore, we have decided to leave the information from CCP as they can deliver it.
Another fan site reporting on the closure of schildwall.info also mentions health problems of the founder and other sources of frustration as reasons for shutting down the site. The community expresses sadness and disappointment in the comments. They hope that another site can step into the big virtual footsteps.
