In EVE Online, spectacular battles occur repeatedly, which can actually have impacts on the players. Because the material battles indirectly cost real money.
On December 4th, a battle occurred at M-OEE8 involving around 4,400 ships. Essentially, it is about the Pandemic Legion and the Northern Coalition fighting against the Circle of Two. In the solar system, the Circle of Two possesses a so-called Keepstar, a massive space station whose construction costs about 10,000 US dollars – if one translates the in-game currency into real money.
Since the Circle of Two claimed the system, this went against the Pandemic Legion and the Northern Coalition, which led to the battle.
The Death Star fights bravely
Circle of Two was outmatched, although their Keepstar was equipped with a large weapon of destruction similar to the Death Star from Star Wars, capable of destroying entire squadrons of ships. Within minutes, many ships were destroyed.
The “damage” is currently estimated at around 7,000 dollars. However, the battle is not yet over. Since it is only possible to attack a Keepstar at certain times, the fighting must pause until the coming Saturday.
Revenge follows
This gives Circle of Two enough time to lick their wounds and prepare for revenge. However, players estimate that this Saturday will mark the first time in the history of EVE Online that a Keepstar meets its end. This is a historic event and will go down in the game’s history as the “Battle at the M-O Keepstar.”
The battle was, by the way, so immense that it led to massive slowdowns. In EVE, the action becomes increasingly prolonged the more players are involved. This is called Time Dilation. Some believe that the Keepstar could only take damage in the previous battle due to these anti-lag measures. How the war ends, we will find out on Saturday.
