The EVE Fanfest 2018 is in full swing. On Thursday, CCP revealed the new EVE Online expansion “Into the Abyss“, which will be released on 29.05.2018. This Friday, new information about the expansion was revealed.
The most important innovation of “Into the Abyss” is certainly the Deadspace. With this, EVE Online essentially gains single-player instances in space after 15 years, similar to dungeons known from other MMORPGs.
The Deadspace presents many dangers to you
The Deadspace is intended to pose a PvE challenge to players that rewards them with plenty of loot. The longer you stay in the Deadspace and the further you progress, the better loot awaits you.
To enter the Deadspace, you need filaments.
Filaments are your ticket to the Abyssal Deadspace
There are two types of filaments that can be discovered/purchased by players. Low tier filaments can be bought on the market and found in the Deadspace.

High tier filaments can only be found in the Deadspace and can be used by yourself or sold to other players. In the high tier Deadspace, stronger enemies and numerous other dangers await you.
In the Deadspace, you are alone
Other players do not have the ability to follow you into the Deadspace, but escaping with your loot is not so easy. Players can track your entrance portal and ambush you.
So you shouldn’t stay too long in the Deadspace as you leave a type of signal buoy at the entrance.

In the Deadspace, you cannot warp or cloak, and can only exit through a randomly placed portal. Reaching this portal is therefore your top priority, but numerous dangers await you between you and the entrance as well.
Because the abyssal niche is unstable, players cannot settle there.
New ships, weapons, and armor
In the Deadspace, you will encounter ships of the new faction “Triglavian”, who want to attack and destroy you. But the risk of facing them is worth it. Because you can find resources there that allow you to manufacture new weapons, ships, and armor.

So anyone interested in the new ship designs cannot miss a visit to the Deadspace.
Mutaplasmides elevate modules to a new level
In addition to the Triglavian resources, you can also find mutaplasmides in the Deadspace. This valuable material can be combined with existing modules to create abyssal modules.

For the abyssal modules, the stats of the modules, such as damage, range, and speed are randomly altered. This can either increase the values or decrease them.
With the help of mutaplasmides, the currently strongest modules can be manufactured.
Each abyssal niche is randomly generated
The creation of your personal abyssal niche occurs in several steps. Currently, CCP is still working on fine-tuning, but the rough structure looks as follows:
The “Weather”
The “weather” in the niche is generated. There are 5 different weather types that have different effects.
- electrical storm: electromagnetic resistance is decreased, positive effect unknown.
- exotic particle storm: kinetic damage resistance is decreased, scanner resolution is increased.
- dark matter field: range of weapons is decreased, but movement speed is increased.
- gun beam afterglow: resistance against explosive damage is decreased, but speed is increased.
- plasma firestorm: less resistance against thermal damage, but armor increases.
The effects apply to both the player and the enemies.
Enemy groups spawn
In the Deadspace, 3 enemy groups are placed. Depending on the difficulty of the abyssal niche, more and tougher enemies are spawned.
A secure field is projected around the enemies. If you leave it, you take damage from the Deadspace, which can destroy you if you stay outside the protective fields for too long.

The enemies act according to the new AI, which aligns their behavior in combat more closely with that of real players.
Add assets
3 new asset families have been created for the Deadspace, giving the abyssal niches a very special atmosphere.
Existing asteroids have simply been upscaled, providing players with an out-of-this-world experience.
In addition to the asteroids, players can look forward to huge crystals and large pillars in space.
Finally, various structures will be added.
