The Elder Scrolls Online receives new content not only for paying PvE dungeon fans with the new Update 21 “Wrathstone”. PvP players also get a new map that packs a punch.
What is the new map in ESO? The new map Eld Angvar is an arena for the Battleground mode (structured PvP) of The Elder Scrolls Online. The location is an inter-world created by the Ayleidans. Those who have played the Murkmire story may remember Eld Angvar from that storyline.
What is special about Eld Angvar? Unlike the known maps in the Battlegrounds, the starting points here are not at the edges of the map. Instead, all players start in the middle. According to the developers, this leads to immediate action as battles commence right away.
If you want to move, you need to use the edges of the map. Additionally, the map will have two variants. Depending on whether you use the modes Relic Hunt, Domination, or Chaos Ball or try the variants Mad King and Deathmatch, different parts of the map will be opened or closed.
What is there to earn? With the new Update 21, new rewards for PvP fans are coming into play:
- Elinhir Arena Lion: You can obtain this companion by combining 40 Arena Gladiator proofs (reward for conquest missions) with the roar of the Arena Gladiator (from war researchers in Cyrodiil).
- Costume styles for weapons: New weapon styles designed by the three teams are available in the Battlegrounds. You obtain the style of the Pit Demons in Deathmatch, the Stormlords during Flag Battle, and the Fire Dragons in Land Grab.
When will the new map come out? The new map, along with Update 21, is available for PC players on February 25. Console fans unfortunately have to wait until March 12. Update 21 is free for all players. Only those who want the two new dungeons from Wrathstone have to pay.
What do the players say? The new battleground is well-received by the community. Especially the new cosmetic styles are highly praised, and many players are looking forward to unlocking them.
