In the new expansion of The Elder Scrolls Online, we return to Skyrim. There, there are both the mountainous region and the underground Black Reach. Therefore, Greymoor is expected to be the expansion with the largest playable area.
How big will Greymoor be? In a blog post that was provided to us in advance, the developers revealed new details about the upcoming expansion Greymoor. It strongly emphasizes nostalgia and brings back many familiar areas from TES5 Skyrim.
To the mountainous region, areas such as:
- the Jarldoms of Haafingar
- Hjaalmarch
- Karthald
- the port city of Solitude
- Dragon Bridge
- and the smaller Morthal.
By itself, this would probably not make the expansion so huge to set a record. After all, the previous chapter Elsweyr already offered a large base area, and the area of western Skyrim is limited.
However, together with the Black Reach, which plays entirely underground, Greymoor is set to provide the largest playable area that an expansion in ESO has ever had.
Greymoor brings familiar enemies and new challenges
What awaits in the areas? A large expansion also requires a variety of enemies and dangers. These were also introduced in the blog post.
From our interview, we already know about the return of the Falmer and Chaurus, two well-known enemy types from Skyrim. They lurk primarily in the dark cave region, which is said to be very winding but looks beautiful with the fluorescent giant mushrooms and glowing will-o’-the-wisps.
Here, many treasures but also terrible dangers are waiting for you. One of these dangers is the Vampire Lord waiting for you at Fort Greymoor.
In the overworld, you will encounter twigblights, giants, trolls, bears, and other monsters. A major role is played by the large city of Solitude, which functions as the main hub.
In addition to the normal creatures, there will be a total of 6 bosses in the new areas that you can fight in the open world. Among them are a sea giant and a vampire knight.
What else does Greymoor offer? The new areas also feature 2 public dungeons where you will find larger and more challenging groups of enemies.
Additionally, Harrowstorms will appear in the open world. These are world events that you must complete together with other players. According to the story, they have a connection to the latest DLC Harrowstorm.
Furthermore, you can look forward to plenty of quests and side quests, daily tasks, and stories surrounding NPCs. Another important element is the Antiquities system, which will also be introduced with the new expansion.
When will the new expansion be released? Due to Corona, Greymoor will not be released as planned, but is delayed by a week. Currently, there is only an approximate time frame from May 25 to 30. The delay also applies to consoles.
