At the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase at E3 2021, the developers of The Elder Scrolls Online released a new trailer for the planned console upgrade of the MMORPG. It shows how the game will look with the upcoming graphics upgrade.
What kind of upgrade is this? The upgrade has been planned for a while and aims to enhance the ESO version for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 graphically. It was initially scheduled for release on June 8 but has since been postponed.
When is the upgrade coming? The upgrade to the Console Enhanced Edition is coming on June 15, 2021. The good news is, it is completely free. In line with this, Bethesda has now presented a new trailer showcasing the new splendor:

Here’s what you see in the trailer: In the video, Bethesda presents some content of the MMORPG and shows corresponding scenes. You get a first glimpse of the improved textures and various other graphic improvements.
What changes does the upgrade bring? The upgrade brings various visual enhancements to the versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. These include:
- 60 FPS
- Increased draw distance
- Higher resolution textures
- Optimized anti-aliasing
- Improved reflections
- Enhanced shadows and ambient occlusion
- Improved depth of field
- Shorter loading times
There will also be a performance and quality mode. We will learn more about the exact differences in the coming weeks. In other games, you usually choose between FPS or sharp textures.
Some players are concerned about a balance problem, as players on Xbox One and PS4 might be at a disadvantage due to the lower framerate compared to Xbox Series X|S and PS5.
