Today, Zenimax Online is opening the gates of Oblivion – at least a small crack. You will get a first glimpse of the new addon of the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online (PC, PS4/PS5, and Xbox One as well as Xbox Series X/S).
When does it start? Today, January 26 at 11 PM, the livestream starts on Twitch.
What will be shown? ZeniMax Online Studios Director Matt Firor and Bethesda Softworks Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications Pete Hines will present to you the next major chapter in the story of the MMORPG ESO for the year 2021. Also joining them will be Creative Director Rich Lambert, Art Director CJ Grebb, and Loremaster Leamon Tuttle.
During the show, the new adventures and characters will be presented to you. Zenimax will reveal more about the new gameplay systems that await you with “Gates of Oblivion.”
Jessica Folsom and Gina Bruno from the community team will highlight some of the major innovations and adventures from the first half of 2021 in detail. Because it’s not just about the new addon but the entire story that you will experience in ESO in 2021.
Why it’s worth watching the ESO stream live
Why should you join? Not only will you find out what the “Gates of Oblivion” entail, what the story is about, and what new features you can expect for the MMORPG; there are also giveaways where you can get digital and new physical goodies and merchandise.
Additionally, you can grab Twitch Drops that contain items for ESO. This includes a crown Ouroboros box and the new greenish dragon frog as a companion.
What could be shown? Presumably, the overarching story that spans the entire year will be presented to us. We might learn which DLCs await us and when the first one will be released.
Moreover, we will certainly learn more about the big addon, which probably does not carry the title “Gates of Oblivion,” as this is the name of the entire story. So, we should see a trailer of the expansion.
The story will likely take us to places we already know from The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. This means we will most likely traverse some of the dimensional realms of Oblivion, where unique laws prevail. The livestream should give us an insight into where the journey leads and what we can expect.
When will we learn more? Do you want to learn more about the “Gates of Oblivion”? Then keep Thursday, January 28 free. Starting at 7 PM, Senior Community Manager Kai Schober and members of the ESO stream team will also give you a first glimpse of Update 29 on the public test server via Twitch. Also joining the stream are Creative Director Rich Lambert and Lead Encounter Designer Mike Finnigan.
What do we already know about the new story? Not much is known yet. “Gates of Oblivion” is designed as a new year-long adventure, consisting again of several DLCs and a substantial addon. The story is expected to deal with the potential destruction of Tamriel, and in the first teaser, the dark Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon was shown.
We will learn more tonight at 11 PM during the livestream.
Do you want to know what it’s like to play The Elder Scrolls Online as the first MMORPG? We will reveal this in the article ESO as the first MMORPG – A beginner reports on their experiences.
