In The Elder Scrolls Online, there are often funny and bizarre occurrences. This was recently experienced by a daring Khajiit when he jumped at the wrong place. His thoughtless act brought him all sorts of friendly mockery from the community.
What happened? The Reddit user and ESO player named BanishedOcean, who plays a Khajiit, was traveling in the region of Shadowfen. There, at the end of the regional story, there is a trip to an external plane outside of Tamriel. It consists of floating ruins in the void.
Since BanishedOcean was playing a curious cat-person, he couldn’t help but wonder, “What happens if I jump into the void here?” Thought and done, and so the Khajiit bravely jumped into the void.
In a Reddit video with the fitting title “I wasn’t prepared for my actions to have consequences,” you can see what happened next.
Never jump into the void!
What happened? As you could see in the video, BanishedOcean fell. And he fell and fell and fell. At some point, the floating ruins disappeared in the distance, but the poor cat continued to fall into the void. Instead of being eventually rescued by the game, it seemed that ESO simply accepted that this particular character would be falling forever.
What are the reactions? The ESO players who saw BanishedOcean’s fate on Reddit were amused and immediately made cheeky comments:
- Taylor_made2 foresaw great things: “This is exactly how Tiber Septim became a god!”
- Keroth saw meme potential: “Insert the ‘Okay, I don’t know what I expected’ meme here.”
- Nayrael only feels pity for the Khajiit: “Legends say he is still falling through the infinity of Coldharbour. Not even Azurah can help him now.”
- Gingerbeardly sees it all as a homage to Gandalf’s eternal fall through the mountain in Moria in The Lord of the Rings: “Defeat the Balrog at the bottom and return as BanishedOcean the White!”
- JustSnilloc once suffered a similar fate: “That happened to me once in Cyrodiil. I couldn’t do anything but contact support, who then manually moved my character back into the world.”
Is Khajiit still falling? However, BanishedOcean did not share the fate of the last Reddit user. He continued to fall for another half hour because he wanted to see what would happen. But nothing happened except that eventually, the stars disappeared, and he was completely in the void. Then he got fed up and simply teleported back to his cozy cat house.
There he will probably do what Khajiit always does to relax: Get high on drugs.
