Morrowind, the upcoming new chapter expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online, takes place on the island of Vvardenfell. One of the great highlights of the island is the magnificent temple city of Vivec, which plays a role in a new trailer.
Those who once played The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind surely remember the many bizarre and strange experiences on Vvardenfell, the island of the Dark Elves. There were insect transport creatures, screeching cliff racers, a bubbling volcano at its center, the splendid city of Vivec, and colossal mushrooms that even became towers!
Vivec is the secret star of the new Morrowind trailer for The Elder Scrolls Online.
The Elder Scrolls Online – Vivec, the City of the God-King
In The Elder Scrolls 3, the city of Vivec – named after the immortal God-King – who resides there, was an important location. Many quests and tasks could be found in Vivec.
Vivec is enormous and consists of rectangular, separated step pyramids. This made Vivec dreadfully confusing. You would constantly get lost.
This problem still exists in Vivec City, as each of the pyramid districts has multiple levels, and you never know exactly where the quest giver can be found. Fortunately, the city in The Elder Scrolls Online is still under construction, and only part of the pyramid districts are already finished. Drained lots in the water and colossal construction sites show where new ziggurats will soon arise.
ESO Morrowind – “Must the city really stand beneath this ugly chunk?”
Also characteristic of Vivec City is the gigantic meteorite named Baar Dau, which hovers over the city like a sword of Damocles. The chunk was once hurled at Vivec’s construction project by the mad Daedric Prince Sheogorath out of envy, but the God-King of the Tribunal merely raised his hand, and the chunk remained suspended in the air.
Out of cruel calculation, Vivec left the meteorite up there, even though he could have easily destroyed it. Rather, Vivec remarked that the stone would remain safely up there as long as he loved the city of Vivec. So if he ever had reason to question his affection for his city, that would be its end.
The Elder Scrolls Online – Vivec City – Assassins love cities!
However, at the time of ESO Morrowind, Vivec is still full of joy for his temple city, and therefore the chunk remains safe in the sky. The “ugly chunk” is not liked by the Morag Tong assassin Naryu Virian at all. But aside from that, she enjoys the emerging city, as assassins are known to love all cities.
What do you think of Vivec City in ESO? Do memories of getting lost in the temple city come to mind? Or were you always able to navigate the districts? Let us know in the comments!
