The Elder Scrolls Online is getting an update soon with extensive changes to the races and their bonuses. Many players fear that their chosen races will no longer fit their roles. However, developer Zenimax has now decided to release more change tokens and adds something extra.
What are the race changes about? The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) offers 10 races with different values. Depending on what you are playing, you have different bonuses that are particularly suitable for certain roles. So far, Nords were good tanks and High Elves excellent mages.
With the upcoming changes from Update 21, some of these bonuses will change and possibly the overall picture won’t fit anymore, if you want to be a hardcore raider focused on maximum efficiency.
This was the previous plan from Zenimax: Zenimax wanted to provide a free change token for this case, but many players found that insufficient. After all, you have more than one hero and additional tokens would have to be purchased for expensive real money.
Developer wants to release more tokens, fans are delighted
This is how Zenimax is responding to the players: In the ESO forum, the developers announced that they would take another look at the issue. It turned out that a significant portion of the player base would like more change tokens. Therefore, the announcement has just been made that there are now three tokens.
The developers are ramping it up: But that’s not all, Zenimax is adding three name change tokens as well. It seems that a significant portion of the player base values having a fitting name for their hero.
This seems to occur more often than initially suspected among some hardcore gamers, whose main focus is on good DPS and raid efficiency.
So that the “Orc Skullbreaker” who switched from Orc to High Elf or the former Argonian “Scales-like-Fish” has a fitting name in his new form, you will soon be able to use the free name change tokens.
How the action is received by the fans: The community’s reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. They are pleased that Zenimax is listening to the fans and not giving in to the temptation to make a lot of money from paid tokens.
When is Update 21 coming? Zenimax has not revealed an official date, but with a bit of luck, Update 21 along with the paid DLC Wrathstone will still arrive in February 2019.
