The MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) is free for 6 days starting today. Additionally, there are official streams specifically aimed at newcomers.
What is the Free Play Event? The MMORPG ESO has started its Free Play Event. It began today, December 3rd, and runs until December 9th at 4 PM. This applies to all platforms: PC/Mac, Stadia, Xbox, and PlayStation.
You can now play the base game content for free. This includes the 4 original classes and 24 areas, including Vvardenfell from the Morrowind chapter and the prologue quest of the current chapter Greymoor. There are two possibilities:
- If you are new and create an entirely new account, you will receive 500 crowns, the real-money currency of the MMORPG.
- If you have already participated in a Free Play Event, you can use your old save and continue playing from there.

How can you continue playing? If you want to dive deeper into the MMORPG after your trial phase, you can secure the base game with the Morrowind expansion at a special price during the Free Play Event and partially beyond. These special offers end depending on your platform:
- PC/Mac: December 9
- Stadia: December 10
- Xbox: December 9
- PlayStation: December 22
If you decide on such an offer, you can continue playing with the character from the Free Play Event.
What makes ESO special
So if you’ve always wanted to take a peek into ESO, you can do so for free now. This way, as a newcomer, you save yourself the hurdle of Buy2Play and can test without pressure.
What kind of game is ESO? ESO is set in the same universe as the single-player series The Elder Scrolls. The developers emphasize that it is not a traditional MMORPG.
ESO relies on many single-player content and ensures that you can experience everything at every level, as your character scales appropriately. This also makes it one of the best MMOs for solo players.

Where can you find more tips for getting started? But the ESO team itself also wants to make it easier for you to start. Therefore, there are appropriate streams for the Free Play Event from official ESO streamers, as the team has informed us in advance. These are mainly aimed at beginners who are taking their first look at ESO. Topics include classes, raids, crafting, and more.

What else can you expect? Simultaneously with the Free Play Event, the event for the celebrations of the Undaunted begins. This runs from December 3rd to December 15th, also at 4 PM.
During this event, you will receive an additional Undaunted reward chest from the final bosses in dungeons. There can be various items contained in it.
Dungeons are just one of the many group contents of ESO. With the 6 days of free play fun, you can try many other things and dive into the world of ESO without pressure.
