The Elder Scrolls Online offers an optional subscription. However, for those who do not currently have one and would like to, there is a week of free access to ESO Plus to look forward to. This includes many useful features and even the first DLC dungeon pack for the upcoming Skyrim add-on.
Here’s how to get the free ESO Plus subscription: To obtain the free subscription, you first need an existing access to the game. You must have purchased The Elder Scrolls Online. It does not matter whether you own Tamriel Unlimited or the new expansion Greymoor.
Then follow these steps:
- Log into ESO.
- Go to the Crown Store
- Select “ESO Plus” there
- Select “Free Trial” here
That’s it. You can now enjoy the benefits of a subscription without having to pay. This is particularly interesting for all the players who were allowed to try the base game completely free during the recent free trial and possibly took advantage of the discount offers to purchase the game. This way, you can now test the subscription for free next.
How long does the free subscription last? The free subscription is valid from activation until April 27, 2020, at 4 PM our time. The earlier you start, the longer you can use it.
What does the subscription actually offer?
These contents are available for free with the subscription: Who buys ESO can experience the base game and all additional DLCs and add-ons purchased. During the subscription, all DLCs are free. You can play all expansions and dungeons without additional costs.
This includes the dungeon DLC Harrowstorm, which was released in spring and introduces the story of Greymoor. Only the last major add-on Elsweyr is not included in the subscription, but the associated DLCs, such as Scalebreaker or Dragonhold, are. By the way, you can keep your loot and achievements from the DLCs even if the subscription ends.
What else is included in the subscription? Another advantage of the ESO Plus subscription is numerous comfort features and conveniences, including:
- The crafting bag: For many players, this alone is reason enough to have the subscription. Thanks to the bag, you can store your crafting materials in unlimited inventory space and don’t have to waste your limited space in the bank or your backpack.
- Double space in the bank for all your characters
- 10% more experience points, crafting inspiration, and gold rewards
- You can place twice as many items in housing. This is a must for anyone who wants to maximize the housing system
- Ability to dye costumes
- Double storage space for your transmutation crystals

In return, you will continue to receive the benefits mentioned above, as well as 1,650 crowns, the premium currency of ESO, which you can use to purchase cosmetics or additional DLCs.
