With the Blackwood addon, new sets are coming to the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online (PC, PS4/PS5, and Xbox One as well as Xbox Series X). We present these sets to you.
If you enjoy collecting armor sets in ESO, Blackwood will be a pleasure for you. You can find the sets both in the Dark Forest zone and in the trial “Felsheim”. Some can also be crafted. The methods to earn the sets in the new expansion are not unusual.
Of course, a bit of grinding is again required to obtain the individual pieces. However, this is also the case with the previous sets that you can already find in ESO.

Bahsei’s Mania
- You obtain the set through the new trial (light armor only)
- 2 items: Adds 129 spell damage
- 3 items: Permanent minor slayer, increases your damage in dungeons, trials, and against arena monsters by 5%
- 4 items: Adds 657 critical spell damage
- 5 items: Increases your damage against NPC enemies by up to 15% based on your missing Magicka
The perfect version additionally provides another 129 spell damage with 5 items.
What is this set good for? PvE, Magicka DD Builds.
How useful is it? Not very useful, as current player and group survivability (sustain) is very good, making it rare to achieve a high effect through the 5-piece bonus. Becomes better with poor sustain.
Moorslayer
- You obtain the set in the new area (light, medium, and heavy)
- 2 items: Adds 1096 maximum Magicka
- 3 items: Adds 1206 maximum health
- 4 items: Adds 1096 maximum stamina
- 5 items: When a foe you have recently damaged dies, you gain 10 ultimate and your health regeneration increases by 1156 for 10 seconds. This effect can be repeated every 10 seconds.
What is this set good for? Stamina and Magicka DD Builds.
How useful is it? This set is interesting as a grinding setup and in certain situations in trials as a trash fight setup, allowing for more frequent ultimate ability usage (comparable to Totwater’s Pieces).
Deadlands Assassin
- You obtain the set in the new area (light, medium, and heavy)
- 2 items: Adds 129 weapon damage
- 3 items: Adds 129 weapon damage
- 4 items: Adds 1096 maximum stamina
- 5 items: When you deal damage to an enemy within 10 meters with a heavy attack, you throw a cone of knives that deals physical damage to the affected enemies. If a hit enemy has 50% health or less, they also take 13 seconds of additional bleeding damage, based on the higher of weapon or spell damage.
What is this set good for? Stamina DD Builds.
How useful is it? In PvE, light attacks are stronger than heavy attacks at the moment, making this set less interesting.
Victory of the Diamond
- You can craft the set (light, medium, and heavy)
- 2 items: Adds 129 weapon or spell damage
- 3 items: Adds 657 critical chance
- 4 items: Adds 129 weapon or spell damage
- 5 items: Dealing direct melee damage grants you 5 seconds of ranged superiority, adding 437 weapon and spell damage to your damage over time and ranged attacks. Dealing direct ranged damage grants you 5 seconds of melee superiority, adding 437 weapon and spell damage to your melee attacks.
What is this set good for? Stamina and Magicka DD Builds.
How useful is it? Interesting only for combinations like Magicka DD with melee spammable or Stamina DD with bow backbar. However, only part of the skills get buffed, so likely other sets with effects on all skills will be stronger.
Frostbite
- You obtain the set in the new area (light, medium, and heavy)
- 2 items: Adds 129 spell damage
- 3 items: Adds 657 critical spell
- 4 items: Adds 129 spell damage
- 5 items: Increases your damage with frost abilities by 6%. Increases your damage against chilled enemies by 4%. Increases damage against enemies affected by Minor Brittle by 2%.
What is this set good for? PvP and battlegrounds.
How useful is it? Thinkable on a Guardian Frost build for battlegrounds.
Heartlander Overlord
- You can craft the set (light, medium, and heavy)
- 2 items: Adds 129 weapon or spell damage
- 3 items: Adds 196 maximum Magicka
- 4 items: Adds 1096 maximum stamina
- 5 items: Increases the effectiveness of your weapon traits by 100%. This does not affect the traits “Decorated” or “Intricate”.
What is this set good for? PvP.
How useful is it? Sounds like an interesting damage set for PvP.
Hist Whisperer
- You can craft the set (light, medium, and heavy)
- 2 items: Adds 129 health regeneration
- 3 items: Adds 129 stamina regeneration
- 4 items: Adds 129 Magicka regeneration
- 5 items: When you deal damage with a light or medium attack, you heal for 318 health and recover 318 stamina and Magicka. When you deal damage with a fully charged heavy attack, you heal for 636 health and recover 636 stamina and Magicka.
What is this set good for? PvP.
How useful is it? Sounds like a very interesting set for sustain in PvP.
Saxhleel Champion
- You obtain the set through the new trial (heavy armor only)
- 2 items: Adds 1096 maximum Magicka
- 3 items: You receive a small Aegis at all times, reducing your damage taken from dungeons, trials, and arena monsters by 5%.
- 4 items: Increases maximum stamina by 1096
- 5 items: When you use an ultimate ability, you and up to 11 group members within 28 meters of you gain “Great Force” for 21 seconds, increasing critical damage dealt by 20%. This effect can occur once every 30 seconds.
The perfect version additionally provides another 1096 maximum stamina with 5 items.
What is this set good for? Tank and healer in PvE.
How useful is it? The last bonus is very interesting. Since healers and tanks often play the War Horn from the Alliance War as an ulti (this provides the same effect). In the future, one might replace this ulti with the set and take another ulti for even more damage.
Oath of the Stone Speaker
- You obtain the set through the new trial (light armor only)
- 2 items: Adds 129 Magicka regeneration
- 3 items: You receive a small Aegis at all times, reducing your damage taken from dungeons, trials, and arena monsters by 5%.
- 4 items: Adds another 129 Magicka regeneration
- 5 items: Your fully charged heavy attacks place a soul bomb on the target, which charges when the target takes damage. After 10 seconds, the bomb explodes, restoring 5% of the damage taken in the form of stamina and Magicka, up to 2240 stamina and Magicka, for 12 group members within 16 meters of the explosion. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds.
The perfect version additionally provides another 1096 maximum Magicka with 5 items.
What is this set good for? Healer in PvE.
How useful is it? Could be interesting as sustain sets for Magicka and stamina groups (comparable to Hollow Tooth).
Sul-Xan’s Torment
- You obtain the set through the new trial (medium armor only)
- 2 items: Adds 129 weapon damage
- 3 items: Increases the damage you deal to dungeon, trial, and arena monsters by 5%.
- 4 items: Adds 657 critical weapon damage
- 5 items: When an enemy you have recently damaged dies, they leave behind a vengeful soul for 6 seconds. You can only generate one vengeful soul at a time. Touching the soul increases your weapon critical by 2160 and your critical damage by 12% for 30 seconds.
The perfect version additionally provides another 657 weapon critical with 5 items.
What is this set good for? Stamina DD in PvE.
How useful is it? Sounds interesting for a setup in arenas or dungeons for stamina DDs, but more challenging in trials due to positioning.
