The MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online will receive the new Chapter High Isle on June 6, 2022. In the new area, High Isle, there are again some Sky Shards to collect, which grant skill points. MeinMMO author MiezeMelli reveals where to find them.
What are Sky Shards? Sky Shards are brightly glowing crystals found all over Tamriel’s map. They can be seen from a distance as a blue-white beam of light shoots up from them.
Sky Shards can be collected by players. For every 3 collected Sky Shards, the player receives 1 skill point. It is definitely worth searching for the glowing crystals. Sky Shards can be found both in dungeons and in the open.
How to get all Sky Shards on High Isle
As in the previously known areas of Tamriel, there are also some Sky Shards to discover in this chapter. In total, there are again 18 Sky Shards, with 10 in the open and 8 in dungeons. This corresponds to a total of 6 skill points.
Here you can see the map with markers for the Sky Shards on High Isle and Amenos.
If you still need to search for Sky Shards in other areas, check out our following guides:
Sky Shards in the Open on High Isle:
Let’s start with the Sky Shards that can be found relatively easily in the open world.
Sky Shard 1 – Above the river by the Fire Bowl
You start north of the Wayshrine of the Coral Road. There you will find the first Sky Shard.
Sky Shard 2 – At a beach near a bridge on the southern coast
This Sky Shard is in the opposite direction. It lies southwest of the Wayshrine of the Coral Road on the coast of High Isle.
Sky Shard 3 – Under the middle bridge of Loch Abhain
Directly between the Wayshrines of Tor Draioch and the western bay, lies another Sky Shard. Look below the bridge that spans the body of water.
Sky Shard 4 – Above a volcanic vent north of Tor Draioch.
Above Tor Draioch lies one of the volcanic vents on High Isle. You will also find a Sky Shard there. If you travel by Wayshrine, you can either use the Wayshrine of Tor Draioch or the Wayshrine of the Dufort Docks.
For the first option, you need to head northwest; for the second option, head southwest.

Sky Shard 5 – Just west of a pointed rock at the northernmost beach
The Sky Shard is located at the northernmost tip of High Isle. From the volcanic vent near the Wayshrine of Garick’s Rest, a path leads north directly to the Sky Shard.
Sky Shard 6 – Hidden in the rocks above Jheurys Bay
For this Sky Shard, it seems as if it lies in a dungeon. But appearances can be deceiving. You need to look for it outside of Jheurys’ dungeon. The Wayshrines are all quite far from this location, but the Wayshrine of Garick’s Rest is the best one to teleport to. From there, follow the path leading south.
Sky Shard 7 – In the shadow of the northern wall of the Castle of All Flags
The last Sky Shard you can collect in the open is located in the middle of the tiny island. You can reach this either via the Wayshrine of All Flags or by going to the part of High Isle located south of the tiny island and swimming through the sea to get there.
On the island itself, you will need to loop to the right until you reach the upper tip.
Sky Shards in Dungeons on High Isle:
For some Sky Shards, you will need to go into dungeons or open public dungeons. The directions to these are always a bit more complicated.
Sky Shard 8 – In the “Fire Bowl” Dungeon
The Fire Bowl dungeon is just a few steps away from the first Sky Shard in the north of the Wayshrine of the Coral Road.
Sky Shard 9 – In the Wave-Breaker Cave
This Sky Shard is located in the Wave-Breaker Cave. You can find this dungeon in the middle of the following three Wayshrines:
- Wayshrine of the Coral Road
- Wayshrine of All Flags
When you arrive at the dungeon, you can keep right upon entering to reach the Sky Shard at the very top.
Sky Shard 10 – Open Dungeon “Tower of the Crimson Coin”
The open dungeon can be found in the southeast of High Isle. Near the Wayshrine of Tor Draioch lies the entrance to the open dungeon. You need to move completely to the east within the dungeon. There you will find a maze where the Sky Shard is located. But don’t worry, it’s not too complicated.
Just keep to the right. You will notice quite quickly if you have lost your way, as the dead ends are very short. Eventually, you will reach a clearing where a boss named “Crimson Apprentice” is located.
To defeat him, you need to interrupt him from time to time after he jumps to another position.
After defeating the boss, take the 2nd passage on the right. At the end of it, you will find the Sky Shard.
Sky Shard 11 – In the Shipwreck Depths
The Shipwreck Depths are located in the northeast of High Isle.
Sky Shard 12 – In the Death’s Valor Keep
This dungeon is located west of the Wayshrine of Garick’s Rest. You can reach it easily within the dungeon by keeping to the right.
How to get all Sky Shards on Amenos (High Isle)
Sky Shards in the Open on Amenos (High Isle):
On Amenos, you can find 3 Sky Shards in the open and 3 more Sky Shards in dungeons.
Sky Shard 13 – In the heart of the riverbed east of the Amenos Post
In the south of Amenos, east of the Wayshrine of the Amenos Post, you will find the first Sky Shard. If you are not familiar with the mentioned Wayshrine yet, you need to travel from the Dufort Docks to Amenos.
Sky Shard 14 – On the shore of the flooded coast under the gaze of the Serpent’s Eye
The Sky Shard is located near the eponymous Wayshrine in the northeast of Amenos.
Sky Shard 15 – In a cove full of wrecks along the Skull Tooth Coast
This is the northernmost Sky Shard of Amenos, located above the Skull Tooth Coast.
Sky Shards in Dungeons on Amenos (High Isle):
Sky Shard 16 – Open Dungeon “Ghost Harbor Cove”
For this Sky Shard, you need to go into one of the 2 open dungeons. The “Ghost Harbor Cove” dungeon is located south of the Wayshrine of Broken Cliffs. Keep to the right in the open dungeon. If you look at the map, you will see a body of water in the lower area. There, you need to move all the way to the bottom right of the map.
At the “tip” of the water, a passage to the cavern of Ghost Harbor Cove appears. Keep right again. To reach the Sky Shard, you will need to get past one of the dungeon bosses, “Captain Tuvacca.” From there, go to the passage that leads south away from the boss.
At the end of the passage, you will now find the Sky Shard.
Sky Shard 17 – In the dungeon “Coral Cliffs”
The Coral Cliffs are located north of the Wayshrine of the flooded coast.
Sky Shard 18 – In the dungeon “Whale Fall”
The dungeon “Whale Fall” is located west of the hidden foundry. You will find this, also in the west of the Wayshrine of the Serpent’s Grave.
In the open dungeons, you will not only find one Sky Shard each, but also receive a whole skill point for the so-called group risk. This is one of the bosses found within the respective dungeon. But be prepared, it won’t be a walk in the park.
With the new Chapter High Isle, a card game is coming to Tamriel for the first time, essentially a game within a game. Here you can find out what MeinMMO author MiezeMelli thinks about the new card game in ESO. What about you? Does it appeal to you or not?
