The Deadlands as a new area with new challenges
What is the story about? After the battle with the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon at the end of the new expansion Blackwood, we now bring the war directly into his realm, the Deadlands.
There, you will face new quests and a new story that is said to take about 20 hours of playtime, as well as new challenges.
You can already play the prologue to Deadlands.
What’s in the new area? The Deadlands are a region in the realm of the Daedra. There, we encounter two different biomes and a friendly city:
- One part of the Deadlands consists of lava, sulfur, rocks, and high fortresses. There you will also find the cave “Brandfire Reformatory,” probably one of the open vaults.
- The other part is somewhat more expansive and contains many storms and lightning.
- The city “Ferngrab” is our safe haven in the new area.
In both biomes of the grim area, you can encounter the new world bosses, known as “Wandering Executioners.” They do not have a fixed position, but can be found anywhere.
According to the developers, they are said to be more difficult to fight than classic world bosses.
New Mythic items and sets in Deadlands
What new Mythic items will there be? With Deadlands, three new Mythic items are set to be introduced, which you can find through the Antiquities system in the Deadlands.
However, to obtain these items, you must own the previous expansion Greymoor:
- Splauder of Ruin – Activates an aura that grants up to 6 allies additional weapon and spell damage. For this, you lose 70 stamina, magicka, and health regeneration per affected ally.
- Belharza’s Band – Increases the damage of light attacks by 1,185. For each melee attack, you collect stacks of Belharza’s Temper (up to 5). Once you reach 5 stacks, they are consumed and deal 1,471 physical damage in a line and stun enemies for 3 seconds.
- Markyn Ring of Majesty – Grants you 100 weapon and spell damage and 1,157 armor for each set of which you wear at least 3 pieces.
What sets does Deadlands bring? The new DLC brings you 6 new sets:
- Deadlands Demolisher – Crafting set
- Iron Flask – Crafting set
- Wretched Vitality – Crafting set
- Eye of the Grasp – Set from the open world, only light armor
- Hexo’s Ward – Set from the open world, only medium armor
- Kynmarcher’s Cruelty – Set from the open world, only heavy armor
What is the new emote? The new Update 32 introduces the emote “Victory Stomper.” You can watch it in this video:
Quality of Life improvements through Update 32
What is Update 32? This is the patch that will be released together with the Deadlands expansion. This update brings general changes that players can also access, even if they do not own the DLC or the Blackwood expansion.
The highlights include adjustments to the sets and the new armory.
What is changing with the sets? With the new Update 32, ESO is introducing several changes to the sets in the game:
- Proc sets that deal burst damage now share a global cooldown of one second.
- A hard limit on how high the bonus can be for critical hits and critical healing.
- Proc sets can again deal critical damage.
- All item sets will offer hybrid stats.
Additionally, the loot system will be revised so that bosses will drop sets that you do not yet own. This aims to ensure that when you grind a boss, it does not continuously drop the set that you have already unlocked. More about this here: The upcoming update in ESO finally brings you the loot you still need.
This is the armory: The armory is a free feature for your house. When you interact with this armory, you can save your build and quickly switch between different builds.
The armory saves:
- Your equipment
- Your abilities
- Your champion points
- Your attribute points
- Your appearances
- Whether you play as a werewolf or vampire
- Items in quick access like potions
Each character has 2 free build slots, and up to 8 more can be purchased in the Crown Store. However, these purchases are tied to the character and not the account. Thus, the system is very similar to build templates from Guild Wars 2, which are also intertwined with the shop.
An overview of the new armory is provided in this video by YouTuber Hack The Minotaur:
What else is changing? In addition to these major features, there will also be smaller quality of life changes:
- The map will now indicate whether dolmens are active or inactive.
- In-game mail delivery will now occur instantly.
Additionally, performance specifically for modern graphics cards from RTX and Nvidia will be improved. This aims to enhance FPS through DLSS and implement the new technology DLAA. What exactly this is about, you can find out here:
