In The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) there’s a very special emote for players from Elsweyr. You can lick yourself like a Khajiit.
What is this emote? Since the new ESO Chapter Add-on Elsweyr, there is a new emote called “Feline Hygiene”. It’s basically nothing more than a so-called “cat wash”. Anyone who has a cat knows that these furry friends don’t wash themselves with water; they lick their fur clean.
This works everywhere except on the head. To do this, cats moisten their paws in a very cute way and then wipe their fur on their head and ears clean.
In ESO, the emote does exactly the same thing. Your character licks their hands and then brushes their face. This even works if I play as a Khajiit cat person. Yes, you read that right; with this emote, even your High Elf or Orc cleans their face in a cat-like manner!
That sounds great, how do I get this emote? Unfortunately, Feline Hygiene is not regularly available in the shop. Rather, you have to obtain it as part of an Elsweyr Edition package. The emote is only available in the Collector’s Editions of Elsweyr. So you have to buy one of the following versions:
- Digital Collector’s Edition for 79.99 euros (20 euros more than the Standard Edition)
- Digital Collector’s Edition Upgrade for 49.99 euros (10 euros more than the Standard Upgrade)
Additionally, you will receive two more emotes (a meditation pose and a merchant animation) as well as a pet, a costume, XP scrolls, treasure maps, and a loot box.
What do players think? The reactions to the emote were amused. One player tweeted a clear video as soon as the emote name was announced. Other players in the ESO forum have been waiting for the emote since the release of ESO in 2014 and had suggested introducing such culturally specific animations back then.
Jürgen says: When I saw the new emote, I was even more excited than the release of Elsweyr had already made me. Because I love the richness of detail in ESO, and Elsweyr in particular sets new focal points with its quirky cat setting.
A cat wash emote simply belongs here and makes the game even more lively and intense. I hope that Zenimax continues in this direction and really releases even more emotes in the style of the peoples of Tamriel. Also, more for Khajiit; we still can’t purr!
