The upcoming DLC for The Elder Scrolls Online – Clockwork City – will delight all Steampunk fans. Because you will get a world made of metal, clockwork, oil, and pipes! And the Morrowind story continues!
In the latest live stream from the studio, the developers of Zenimax present the newest DLC “Clockwork City” for The Elder Scrolls Online. Here, the developers wandered for an hour through the exotic Steampunk world of the eponymous Clockwork City.
Steampunk describes a world where there is futuristic technology, but it is powered mechanically and by steam. The idea is somewhat like a Victorian era, but infused with adventurous technology that accomplishes the astonishing.
The Elder Scrolls Online – Schrödinger’s Clockwork City
The Clockwork City is a curious place that serves as a miniature representation of the ESO world. The city was built by the living god Sotha Sil and exists both outside of Tamriel and within it. So it’s somewhat of a “Schrödinger’s paradox”.
But regardless of whether it is about quantum physics or magic (or both), the Clockwork City is a real place that can be visited in the next ESO DLC. There, you will encounter a crazy new region that is about as large as Wrothgar from the popular Orsinium DLC.
The Elder Scrolls Online – Clockwork City – “Everything is made of metal here!”
Anyone who has even a little interest in Steampunk will be in for a treat in Clockwork City. Because the entire region is made of metal! Just everything, even the trees have steel leaves, and the creatures are all clockwork constructs – even mice are mechanical!
The lakes and rivers are filled with oil, and gears, cranks, and cylinders rattle everywhere in the buildings. Mechanical servants of Sotha Sil roam around, and due to various malfunctions, they cause us a lot of trouble.
Additionally, there is the central city in the Clockwork City: the Brass Fortress. In it reside the cultists of Sotha Sil, who emulate their idol and even replace parts of their bodies with mechanical limbs.
The Elder Scrolls Online – Steampunk Mounts, Pets, Cool Armors and Transmutation System
In addition to the many quests in the new region, the continuation of the story from Morrowind, and the previously unseen new raid, there is plenty of fresh stuff for you in Clockwork City. The highlight is the new armors which come in heavy, medium, and light categories.
Even the light armor shown in the stream looked simply awesome. Additionally, there is a mechanical dragonfly that every player receives upon entering the Clockwork City. As a new mount, there is a six-legged Nix-Ox construct that scurries around quickly.
Also cool: The DLC finally has a feature that allows you to redistribute your weapon attributes. You can also buy a cool house in the Clockwork City, complete with gears and Steampunk features!
The DLC Clockwork City will be – like all DLCs – free for all ESO Plus subscribers as long as the subscription is active. On the other hand, you can buy the DLC from the Crown Store for real money after the release. When the DLC will be released is still unclear, but it is expected to come in the fourth quarter, so it will be released sometime in 2017.
On the ESO test server, you should already be able to play Clockwork City. The final release should occur soon.
