The new DLC Markarth along with the free Update 28 will be released on November 2, 2020, for PC and Stadia, and on November 10 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. With the last DLC of the year, the story about the current chapter Greymoor will also come to an end and pave the way for the yet unknown next chapter in 2021.

What is Markarth?
Behind the name Markarth is a city that Skyrim fans surely know well. For in the far west of the country lies this curious city, where the so-called “Outcasts” resided in Skyrim.
In ESO, which takes place 800 years earlier, the realm of the later Outcasts is still intact. The so-called “Reiklanders” are a people of wild, nature-bound barbarians who have a penchant for bones and antlers, with which they adorn their armor.
The city of Markarth itself was built on the ruins of an ancient city of the Dwemer. This people of tinkers disappeared long ago, but their mechanical remnants are still active.
Thus, your journey will ultimately lead you into the depths of the old Dwemer city and the caverns of the Black Reach. By the way, this is connected to the Black Reach from the other Skyrim areas, and those who wish can traverse the entire distance underground.

Who is the enemy?
The dark vampires from the Grey Host are also your main adversaries in Markarth. This time, it is against the vampire lord Lady Belain, a particularly insidious bloodsucker. Moreover, hidden in the Black Reach, in the ancient ruins of the Dwemer, lies an ancient library of this people, where something ominous is brewing.
To face these challenges, you will team up in a temporary alliance with the Reiklanders and their witch circle. Those who have already played the regular story of ESO may have already encountered these NPCs and will see them again now. Overall, Markarth promises a lot of additional lore about the Reiklanders and their wild but fascinating culture.
How do I get to Markarth?
This is how the prologue works: You can now start a free prologue quest. This ties into the finale of Greymoor and sends you in the direction of Markarth. In the prologue, you can already get a taste of the new region. You receive the prologue quest in the Crown Store as a free quest starter and can then get started right away. The end of the prologue quest directly transitions into the story of Markarth when it is released on November 2 for PC and Stadia, and on November 10 for PS4 and Xbox One.
This is how you get to Markarth: Once you have purchased the DLC, you can select a way shrine in Markarth. The region is located far to the west of western Skyrim from the Greymoor chapter. However, you do not need to have purchased Greymoor first to play Markarth. However, you can only experience the finale of the overall story about the Black Heart of Skyrim after you have completed the stories of Greymoor and Markarth.
What does Markarth cost? The DLC for Markarth is available in the ESO Crown Store at the usual price for story DLCs. That is 2,000 crowns, which is approximately 18 euros. Those who have an ESO Plus subscription can access Markarth and all other DLCs as well as all chapters except Greymoor for the price of 12.99 euros for 30 days.
What is there to find?
The big loot highlight in Markarth will be the new solo arena. Anyone who is familiar with the Maelstrom Arena from Orsinium knows what to expect. In Markarth, there is also an arena where the bravest and most grim of the Reiklanders can compete to gain fame and recognition or meet a cruel demise.
There are a total of 3 wings of the arena, and the challenges become tougher the longer you endure in the arena. Since you are on your own, you need to master your character well. However, you can also score quite a bit of loot.
In total, there will be 17 new sets of items in the arena as well as in the challenges in the rest of Markarth.
What’s included in Update 28?
In addition to the paid DLC for Markarth, there is, as always, also a general update that all ESO players will benefit from. This includes mandatory bug fixes and additional features. Frost staffs will be upgraded and are now also suitable for offense thanks to a new buff.
The most important new feature is the so-called “Sticker Book”. This is the nickname for a new feature in the game’s collection menu. With it, you can restore items from collections that you have already found, using transmutation crystals at any time.
You no longer need to clutter your inventory with items you no longer need because those items might become relevant again later. Instead, you can now safely get rid of them and restore them if needed. Like in a “sticker album,” you can now see immediately which items you already have and how to get the missing items.
Also convenient: You can now possess more transmutation crystals. Regular players have a limit of 500 stones, while Plus subscribers can hold a maximum of 1,000.
