On Monday, March 8, the new update “Flames of Ambition” for the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) will be released on PC. This comes with major changes to the game. Therefore, we have compiled 4 things you should do to prepare for the patch.
What is special about Update 29? With the upcoming update ESO will completely revise the Champion System. In the future, you will only be able to select a certain number of effects and the trees will branch out more intensively.
This also means that your distribution of points will be reset and some builds will play differently in the future. To ensure you are not completely surprised and can prepare perfectly, we have gathered some tips for you.
1. Note down your current builds
With Update 29, not only your Champion points but also the distribution of your attribute points (Magicka, Health, Stamina) and your skill points (weapons and passive abilities) will be reset.
You will start completely from scratch with all your characters, except of course for the levels earned in skills and guilds.
To ensure that you can get back into the game as quickly as possible and don’t spend forever restoring your builds, you should at least note down your current distribution in bullet points. Especially if you play multiple characters actively.
Also note: Some users currently possibly have more skill points than they should due to bugs. So don’t be surprised after the update if the number turns out differently than before.
2. Experiment with new builds before the release
Update 29 will not only revise the Champion points but also make some changes to existing skills. Especially with passive skills related to armor, there will be some innovations and even some negative effects.
So don’t be surprised after the patch if your build might not be “up to date” anymore.
If you want to familiarize yourself with the new skills now, you can do this on the PTS test server. There you can create a pre-made character (there is a drop-down menu at the top right when creating the character), which is already at the maximum level.
Additionally, there is already a Calculator from ESO-Hub. There you can already experiment with the new Champion points and create a new build that you can play right at the start of the update.
3. Collect new gear in your collection
Our tip number 3 is in line with the experimentation of builds. With the DLC Markarth, collections were introduced to the game. Here you will find already unlocked sets that you have either analyzed, destroyed, or sold to the merchant.
However, if your build changes in the future, you can easily reconstruct the old set and switch to a Magicka build instead of Stamina and wear the appropriate gear directly.
To restore a collected set, you need to visit a transmutation table and use the new menu “Sets” there. Here you will find the previous items. However, a reconstruction costs transmutation crystals.
4. Collect your XP Scrolls and Potions
With the revision of the Champion points, the required experience should also be adjusted, so that newcomers can catch up better to the veterans.
This ultimately means that everything will likely go faster. So if you are considering reaching the Champion point cap before the patch, you might as well wait until after the update. Then it should go faster.
Theoretically, you could even make money right now by crafting and selling Ambrosia experience potions. The prices have been rising significantly lately.
