The Elder Scrolls Online was already a successful MMO, but thanks to the recently released addon Morrowind, it became even more successful. Over 10 million registered players have been recorded so far. To maintain this success, two new DLCs will be released soon.
The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind has only been on the market for a week and has already increased the registered player count of ESO from 8.5 to over 10 million. This doesn’t indicate how many players are actually online every night, but if just a fraction of them plays regularly, the Elder Scrolls MMO should be doing quite well.
But that’s not the only new feature for ESO, Zenimax announced two new DLCs for ESO that should be interesting for not only Morrowind owners.
The Elder Scrolls Online – DLCs bring more MMO content
Most critics agree – Morrowind is a great addition to ESO, but one criticism has been mentioned repeatedly: ESO offers too little MMO content. A great story is nice and all, but where are the instances where I can tackle tricky boss fights together with my team?
In Morrowind itself, there was only the big raid and public dungeons. With the newly announced DLCs at E3, “Horns of the Reach” and “Clockwork City“, three new instances will be introduced to the game.
The Elder Scrolls Online – DLCs – Dungeons and Clockworks
The first DLC pack “Horns of the Reach” will release in August. This will include a major update for the entire game (regardless of whether you purchase Morrowind or the DLC).
It contains new items, houses, costumes, and holiday events. If you purchase the DLC, you will also receive two new dungeons called “Bloodforge” and “Hawkring” as well as a new PvP battleground called “Arcane University”. For the latter, Morrowind must also be available.
The second announced DLC comes completely without Morrowind. In “Clockwork City”, you will return to Sotha Sil’s clockwork recreation of Tamriel, which you have only been able to admire in the raid “Hall of Crafting”.
By the end of the year, the DLC is expected to be released with a large dungeon in the Clockwork City. And although the Clockwork City is on Morrowind, you do not need the new chapter to play the DLC.
As always, both DLCs will be included in an ESO subscription as long as you maintain the ESO Plus subscription. With the two announced DLCs, the roadmap for this year should be well known.
In 2018, we can expect at least three more DLCs and presumably a new chapter, which should be similar in scope to Morrowind.
