9. Consider a subscription
ESO also has a subscription that you can take out for €13 per month. If you opt for a longer subscription, the amount is cheaper on a monthly basis. Such a subscription offers you:
- More experience and gold
- An unlimited bag for crafting materials, so your inventory doesn’t fill up so quickly
- More diverse housing options, as you can place more objects
In addition, you receive a lot of paid DLCs and addons at no additional cost as long as the subscription is active. You don’t have to purchase the expansions separately.
For players who want to dive deeper into ESO and not just try it out, a subscription can definitely be worthwhile. If you no longer want it, you can cancel the subscription anytime before the start of the next billing period.
Additionally, there are free crowns for a subscription, the real-money currency of ESO. The Crown Store offers cosmetic items like mounts and companions, costumes, and the aforementioned DLCs. If you want to spend additional money on such items, we at MeinMMO explained how to optimize your use of the Crown Store.
10. Log in daily
ESO has a daily login bonus. By simply logging in, you can collect cool items. You will receive scrolls for more experience, food for your attributes, or even companions for free.
11. Visit the stables daily
It should become a daily habit for you to visit the horse stable. There you can buy a permanent upgrade for your riding skill every 24 hours. There are always three options available:
- Speed: You ride faster
- Carrying capacity: You get an additional inventory slot
- Stamina: You can sprint longer and get thrown off less frequently
What you choose from these options is theoretically up to you. However, especially without a subscription, it is advisable to choose the inventory space. Without a subscription, your bag can fill up quite quickly. These upgrades are permanent but only valid for the one character that visits the stable. If you play multiple characters, be sure to fetch the daily upgrade for each of them.
12. Keep your gold
You will start ESO with empty pockets and won’t have much gold at the beginning. However, you will need it later in the game if you want to enhance your crafting skill or focus on housing. Therefore, try to conserve your gold at the beginning.
This is the trick with fast travel: For this, do not travel too often in succession from any point on the map to a wayshrine. This can get quite expensive. Instead, invest time and travel from wayshrine to wayshrine. Just click on the shrine, the map opens, and you can travel to another point for free.
You can also travel for free to friends or guild members. Just open your list and select the player. This is also useful if you want to level up together or if someone wants to show you something.
This is how it is with equipment: In ESO, you can also enhance your equipment with certain items. This upgrades the pieces in their rarity and gives them better stats. However, you can save the gold at the beginning.
You will receive a lot of equipment while leveling, or your guild members can craft suitable sets for you. Enhancing your equipment only makes sense once you reach level 50 and 160 CP (Champion Points). Therefore, don’t worry about it at the beginning.
This is how you earn good gold: In addition to saving gold, you can also earn it. You can simply quest or run dungeons. Another possibility is to earn a chunk of gold through stolen goods. This Khajiit has done this for over 5 years and has become a millionaire.

13. Put off housing for a bit
This is housing in ESO: A large and popular feature in ESO is housing. You can buy your own houses and fill them with furniture, companions, and useful items. The houses range from small guest rooms to lavish estates, which accordingly offer more space for items.
You can decide whether you want to buy the property furnished or unfurnished. Customizations can be made through a housing editor for both versions. Once you are satisfied with your home, you can invite friends or guild members. For this, you can set who can visit your house and even redecorate.
This is the problem with housing: To make it really fun, however, you first need some items. For this, you should either have a decent amount of crafting skill, lots of gold, or real money available.
At the beginning, you should put your housing career on hold. The first rooms are available for little to no gold when you complete the necessary quests. However, don’t expect to be able to decorate a lot right from the start.
Play a bit first, save your gold, and get properly into the game. In the meantime, you can just use your guild house. When you’re ready, you can still dedicate yourself to housing.
This can help with housing: For the beginning of your housing career, we at MeinMMO have compiled a list of all possible houses with location and prices for you.
