Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has become the downfall of a fugitive prisoner in England. He risked and lost his regained freedom for the shooter.
Currently, it’s actually the new Season 2, new weapons, or the new zombie mode Outbreak that are the talk of the town in CoD Cold War. However, a curious incident has now occurred as CoD Cold War apparently made a fugitive prisoner end up back in jail.
About this fugitive: The 36-year-old Clint Butler had actually been serving a 17-year prison sentence for robbery and illegal possession of weapons – until 2024.
However, in November 2020, he managed to escape from the open prison of “HMP Spring Hill” in Buckinghamshire. Since then, he had been wanted by the authorities until January 13, 2021.
What exactly happened? Apparently, it became too boring for the fugitive in his hideout during the intensified lockdown measures over time. On January 13, 2021, he left his hideout and ventured out with a friend for a quick shopping trip.
During this, his conspicuous behavior drew the attention of police officers, and he was apprehended after a brief attempt to flee and a scuffle with the police in front of a store.
The curious part: Apparently, the reason for his outing was the latest CoD installment – that is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. According to the police, Buttler wanted to buy the new Call of Duty because he simply couldn’t sit around during the lockdown anymore.
How did it all end for Butler? After Butler was caught, he was sent back to prison.
His outing to buy CoD Cold War earned him an additional 19 months in prison – 13 months for the escape and 6 more for the assault on police officers during his arrest in connection with his shopping trip.
It’s not the first time gamers have run into trouble with the police. A player violated his country’s COVID regulations because he absolutely wanted to play Pokémon GO:
