The online shooter Escape from Tarkov (PC) is currently suffering from a major lag problem, causing a lot of frustration among players.
Especially in an online shooter, lag is particularly annoying. In a hardcore shooter like Escape from Tarkov, this quickly leads to frustration. Because in this game, every hit can be fatal. That’s why it’s so important to proceed carefully, to hide, and to come up with a good tactic. But when lag ruins everything, the fun of the game quickly disappears.

Evil lag causes frustration
In Escape from Tarkov, which is currently in beta, players have to deal with nasty lags. Characters are shot without even knowing who did it. Because lags of more than 900 milliseconds can result in not seeing the opponents that eliminate you. This is very frustrating in the online shooter.
Because if you get shot, you may lose all your gear, as enemies can take it from you. And getting rare items is extremely difficult.
A network code analysis between two players, who can actually play the shooter smoothly, has shown that there are lags with significant fluctuations. Up to 941 milliseconds were measured, on average the lag is about 200 milliseconds. These analyses were then sent to the developers at Battlestate Games. They confirmed that the network code of Escape from Tarkov urgently needs improvement. However, lags of 941 milliseconds are an absolute exception.

Complexity of the game is the cause of lag
The reason for the lags is the enormous complexity that the game has taken on over time. This means that the network code needs to be constantly revised. Some improvements have already been made, and more are being worked on. In addition, matchmaking is to be improved, so that players with similar ping can play together. The team plans to activate new servers soon.
Battlestate Games continues to state that Escape from Tarkov is still in development and is not a finished product. Therefore, such problems are normal.
