The new Black Desert class Archer is playable worldwide as of today. The Archer is a purely ranged class that decimates enemies with a bow and crossbow.
The Archer is the first class that has access to powerful Awakening abilities from the start. Alongside the event, two XP events will begin, allowing you to pair a character with the Archer, both gaining experience simultaneously.
Leveling the Archer is worthwhile
Here’s what you need to know about the double XP event: Concurrently with the release of the Archer, an event in Black Desert grants double experience points to all players. To benefit from the XP bonus, all you need to do is log in to Black Desert.
Additionally, players can pair a class they have created with an Archer. The pairing of characters in Black Desert has been possible since mid-2018 and only works if one of the two characters has reached level 65. However, during the event duration, it is possible to do so with the Archer starting at level 7. Furthermore, the Archer shares experience points with the character it is paired with.

This is how XP sharing works: Pairing is possible up to level 60. Select the “Character Swap” button found in the left side of the screen next to the “Camping Tool” icon. There, you can mark a character. The character must be marked as the main character, and you only collect XP for the other character when playing with the Archer. The pairing can only be dissolved when you log in with the paired characters and redeem combat and talent XP.
Therefore, you can use the event to effectively level up a twink alongside the Archer or finally bring an existing character close to level 60. By the way, your paired character also receives XP beyond level 50. Just remember that PvP will be activated once your character reaches level 50 or higher.
Until when do the XP events last? The XP events start on December 12, 2018, and run until January 9, 2019. So you have plenty of time to actively gather XP until the end of the year.
The Archer can awaken from the beginning
Typically, players must first gain some experience with a class before gaining access to the most powerful abilities. Most classes can use their Awakening abilities starting at level 56. However, with the Archer, developer Pearl Abyss is taking a new approach. The class has access to the basic weapons, consisting of a glove and a crossbow, from the start. At the same time, it can immediately equip its Awakening weapon, a longbow. Fans have been waiting for the Archer class for 4 years.

The Archer is just the beginning of updates aimed at making Black Desert a better game. Recently, developer Pearl Abyss announced that the controversial Renown System would be abolished. Evening players in BDO have a chance in PvP again.
