Players who enjoy playing Fortnite on Apple iOS devices can no longer download updates and are permanently stuck in Season 3. However, as a final blow against Apple, developer Epic Games has sneaked in a final update with a troll action.
What is the last update for Fortnite on iOS? While Season 4 of Chapter 2 went live for all Fortnite players yesterday and players can battle with Marvel heroes like Thor and Iron Man, users on iOS devices are left without options. Due to the legal dispute between Apple and Epic, players on iPhone and other devices are permanently trapped in Season 3 and can only play with other Apple users.
But before everything was shut down, Epic was able to deploy one last update, which is a single troll move against Apple.
Tart Tycoon – This is why the Anti-Apple skin is so trollish
This is the skin: In the last update, iOS players received the skin “Tart Tycoon”. It features a skinny guy in a gray suit with an oversized apple for a head. The facial expression of the character shows a permanent frown of discontent and joylessness.
A similar apple figure was already seen in the notorious 1984 film by Epic, where the apple boss declared his reign of terror and Epic called for the fight for freedom on iOS devices.
This is why the skin is so provocative: The unsympathetic apple head is supposed to represent the CEO of Apple, and the name “Tart Tycoon” is also full of mockery. While “Tart” actually refers to a delicious apple tart, the term can also be used as a euphemism for “slut”.
Additionally, the term “Tard” (with a d) is often used in online jargon to insult stupid teammates. The term originates from the English word “Retard”, which can roughly be translated to idiot or backward.
The German version comes with the name “Finanzchef Fallobst” but is not as ambiguous.
Where to get the skin? Those who want the skin had to participate in the big FreeFortnite tournament last week. As a reward, among other things, there was the skin, which could be earned without much effort. The action and the fact that this skin is still available in the iOS version represent a final crude gesture from Epic against Apple. However, it remains exciting to see how the legal dispute will develop.
