In Fortnite, a pickaxe from the “Star Wars” series has been removed indefinitely. The reason for this was a nasty bug that made it “Pay2Win.” Players had real advantages with the pickaxe.
What kind of pickaxe is this? The harvesting tool, which players can use to farm materials, comes from the “Star Wars” series. It is the pickaxe: Club.
This item had only recently been available again in the item shop, when Fortnite celebrated the Star Wars event and brought the corresponding cosmetics back to the game.
Pickaxe gives players a clear advantage
What is the problem with the pickaxe? The harvesting tool was plagued by a nasty sound bug that made it “Pay2Win.” When players equipped the club, opponents could no longer hear their footsteps.
This allowed players to silently sneak up on an opponent from behind and kill them without being heard. This clearly made the pickaxe a purchasable advantage.
Pro benefits from this bug in the tournament
The player SlowEU_ watched the professional player Dmitri “Mitr0” Van de Vrie during the Solo Cash Cup. He noticed that the pro made no noise at all when he had the pickaxe “Club” equipped.
He published the clip on Twitter, where this was clearly visible:
From the opponent’s perspective, one can see that he did not hear at all that a player was sneaking up on him. Therefore, he could not react and was quickly eliminated.
Removal of the pickaxe
What happens now with the harvesting tool? Epic has removed the pickaxe from the game indefinitely while they work on fixing the bug.
In the game, it is now displayed as a normal pickaxe, in the default style, if it is still equipped.
Once there is more information about this harvesting tool, Epic Games will continue to inform via Fortnite Status.
YouTuber Muselk found some skins in Fortnite that he believed were also “Pay2Win.” With these skins, one could hide wonderfully and blend in with the environment. If one then ambushed opponents, they could not react before being eliminated. The YouTuber showed this process in his video and explained why they are “Pay2Win”.
