Battlefield Portal gives the community numerous tools to create their own modes in Battlefield 2042. Now, a player has designed a crazy training mode for the wingsuit, which is well-received by players. This strongly resembles the classic Superman 64.
What is Battlefield Portal? The mode is one of four game modes in Battlefield 2042. In addition to content from three of the biggest Battlefield classics like Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 3, the mode also provides the ability to create custom modes and share them with other players.
Whether “Zombie” mode, knife duel, or defibrillator battle, the editor of Battlefield Portal offers numerous options for creation. You can find more about this in our overview of Battlefield Portal.
The player andygmb has now creatively shown what one can do with Portal through a crazy game mode. He has designed a training course for the wingsuit that strongly reminds of games like Superman 64 or Lylat Wars.

Crazy Portal Mode with AI Bot Rings for Flight Training
This is what the player has built: He has designed a training mode for the wingsuit on the map Kaleidoscope. You start on one of the tall skyscrapers and must fly through rings from there.
The twist: The rings consist of AI opponents flying in circles with parachutes. This looks quite crazy but serves its purpose. You can simply glide through the rings with the wingsuit and test your flying skills.
Why AI bots as rings? While Portal provides numerous tools, there are also limits. Players cannot create their own designs or change the map.
Therefore, andygmb simply used the bots as the only option to represent the flight rings. Many players are certainly excited about it.
This is how the community reacts: The player published his creation in the subreddit for Battlefield 2042 and receives a lot of positive feedback there.

Battlefield Portal is the Best Thing About Battlefield 2042 for Many
This is why the mode is so well received: For many fans, the mode is a silver lining and possibly the most popular. Because Battlefield 2042 had a rocky start, was torn apart on Steam, and also made some changes to the core mechanics of the Battlefield series.
This includes the controversial specialists that some Battlefield veterans do not like at all. With Hazard Zone, there is also a game mode that resembles titles like Escape from Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown.
For many, these are unnecessary things; they just want the pure, classic Battlefield experience, with the typical classes and modes like Conquest, without frills.
Battlefield Portal delivers just that and also includes three different classics with map remakes that are popular with fans for various reasons. So you can choose what kind of Battlefield experience you feel like having.
Later, additional maps and Battlefield spin-offs are also to be added to the mode. That’s why players like bmg50barrett believe: “Portal is truly something amazing. They should have just released that [the mode] and more remasters of old maps.” (via reddit)
It remains to be seen which classics and maps will come to Battlefield Portal next. There are enough candidates. For example, Battlefield 2142 is considered a popular spin-off of the series and would certainly bring even more variety to Battlefield 2042 with its sci-fi elements.
Newer spin-offs like Battlefield 1 or Battlefield V are also possible. It remains to be seen what the developers at Ripple Effect Studios, who are responsible for the mode, have planned for the future.
