A new year begins in January and at least in the MMOs there is nothing to complain about. Because in World of Warcraft you can expect a new raid, Paragon shines as a completely new game and the good old War Thunder has finally officially launched after four years of beta.
January may not offer any fun events like at Christmas or Halloween, but the first month of the new year is by no means boring. Five games are particularly interesting in January, as they present new, long-awaited contents. Read here what’s new in WoW, Overwatch, or War Thunder.
World of Warcraft – Elves fight in the Night Fortress
On January 18, the next big raid in World of Warcraft: Legion finally releases. This time, it’s going to the mighty Night Fortress, the bastion of the nightborn in the region of Suramar. The fortress consists of four wings and contains a total of ten bosses. The raid is designed for heroes at level 110. For now, there will only be the normal and heroic variants. The trimmed raid finder version and the hardcore mythic variant are expected to come in the weeks after the release.
Revenge on Gul’dan!
But why should one play the Night Fortress? What’s so great about it? First of all, the new raid looks extremely cool, as Suramar and the city of the nightborn are among the most impressive regions in Legion. And fans of the complex story of World of Warcraft will get their money’s worth here, as the Night Fortress was once built as the last refuge of the night elves.
This refuge has now become a nightmare, as the leaders of the nightborn have pledged themselves to the Legion and personally invited Gul’dan as a guest of honor to their lair. Your heroes have some scores to settle with the ugly orc since the start of Legion, so it fits quite well that the grim warlock is waiting for our swords at the top of the highest tower of the fortress as the last boss.
So many bosses, so much loot!
Gul’dan is just one of a total of ten bosses. In the four wings of the fortress, which extend from the aqueducts to the “Royal Athenaeum” to the Tower of Nightspire, we can expect many more end bosses. Among them are also old acquaintances like the Dreadlord Tichondrius or the treacherous Grand Magistrix Elisande.
Each of these end bosses is a proper challenge (except in the upcoming LFR mode) and after each victory, you can look forward to substantial loot. This includes new items such as the powerful tier-19 set. The item level ranges from 870 to 880 in normal mode, starts at 885 in heroic mode, and ends at a hefty 895 points.
Those who have seen everything in World of Warcraft: Legion should mark January 18 on their calendar, as the Night Fortress is sure to be a blast for all raid fans. However, those who just want to see the story and aim to realign Gul’dan’s shabby orc jaw should also have fun with the LFR version. However, this will probably not happen until February or even March.
On page two, we continue with Final Fantasy 14 and the path to the Stormblood expansion.
