Overwatch – The full Christmas buzz and more PvP fun
Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch has already presented fun events during the 2016 Olympic Games and Halloween. Therefore, it is only logical that Christmas is also given special attention. Officially, Blizzard has not yet released any information about the holiday event, but data miners have found numerous hints in the code.
“Eat my candy cane!”
Among the data mining finds, there is clear evidence of a Christmas event. First and foremost, a new soundtrack that overlays the well-known Overwatch theme with a kind of “Jingle Bells.” This should set the right holiday mood right from the start of the game and whet the appetite for more. But that’s not all, because just like at Halloween and the Olympics, there will be special skins again.
This time in a Christmas look. Therefore, the Swabian knight Reinhardt is supposed to wield a thick candy cane instead of his hefty rocket hammer in battle. However, whether he will get the saying mentioned in the title as a new voice line is pure speculation. Besides Reinhardt, other skins are reportedly to be expected: such as Christmas ornaments as weapons from Zenyatta or explosions replaced by candy.
Arena and new ranked season
In addition to the new skins, there should also be a new “Brawl mode” for Christmas. According to extracted voice lines, it would be an arena where players act as gladiators. However, how all this is related to Christmas remains to be seen. Perhaps you will fight in a department store for Christmas gifts?
Concrete details are currently available for the third season of ranked matches. This starts on November 30 and lets you compete once again for places in the Overwatch leaderboard. For this, you will again earn points, which you can exchange for golden weapons. Special spray logos and portraits will also be given for participation. So don’t forget to qualify for the new season in time!
Overwatch is definitely worth a visit at Christmas, whether you want to shoot a little or get into the third season.
