The new addon Survival brings a dark new game mode into Ubisoft’s shooter MMO: Survival! In this mode, it’s all about bare survival. A snowstorm haunts the devastated New York, trapping 24 players in the snow. If you want to survive here, you have to assert yourself and engage in a ruthless battle for survival.
You only have one life here, and if you die, you get kicked out and have to start a new round from scratch.
Your agent starts frozen, hungry, thirsty, and infected with a virus in the snow. The infection will eventually take your agent out, but if you don’t craft warm clothes right away, you’ll freeze much sooner. Also, you only regenerate health when you consume food. The items are all limited, and the other 23 agents want to survive too. In PvE mode, they will steal your life-sustaining items all the time, and in PvP mode, you’ll get taken out as soon as you have a delicious chocolate bar or a warm down jacket with you. Or just like that, after all, every player is a potential competitor!
Everyone against everyone
Your fellow players, the weather, and hunger are not the only dangers in Survival mode. The ever-present AI enemies are still roaming around New York (one might think that they have all been shot or frozen by now). To “win” the Survival mode, you have to reach the extraction point in the middle of the “Dark Zone”.
But there are particularly tough enemies around, and the closer you get to rescue, the more and more dangerous foes appear. In PvE mode, they are already bad enough, but it gets especially tricky when your “fellow players” stab you in the back in the middle of battle and steal both the loot from the enemies and your stuff from your cold, dead hands.
Those who complete the Survival mode get particularly cool loot in the form of up to 15 sealed containers. The brutal struggle for survival is worth it!
The Survival addon for The Division enriches the online shooter with an exciting new mode that demands everything from you. Therefore, it’s always a special achievement when at the end you finally sit in the rescue helicopter and can open your loot boxes. It’s basically like Christmas!
