Blizzard celebrates its 30th birthday. To celebrate this, an emotional trailer was released that showcases the best moments. However, some players are reacting with frustration.
This is what the trailer shows: In the trailer “Welcome Home”, Blizzard shows some of the most emotional moments from games like World Of Warcraft, Overwatch, or Hearthstone. The scenes are meant to set the mood for the BlizzCon, which runs from February 19 to 20.
While the trailer on YouTube is quite liked by many, the comments are rather negative. It shows that some players are frustrated about the situation surrounding Blizzard. But first, watch the trailer here:
30 Years of Blizzard evokes not only positive memories
How fans are reacting: The video has received around 4600 likes and around 1600 dislikes (as of: 09.2. 18:01) from more than double the viewers positively rated on YouTube, thus it is well received by most players. For many, the trailer evokes numerous beautiful memories, as users clearly express in the YouTube comments:
- Byron Vorster writes: “I am proud to have been part of this journey for over 20 years. Thank you, Blizzard, for all the games you have made!”
- Johnny Tsunami writes: “Thank you for all the adventures and memories… the world is a better place because of Blizzard.”
However, most comments you come across speak a different language. They consist of numerous angry fans. The criticism is mostly related to the publisher Activision. Many players wish for the “old Blizzard” to return. The name of the trailer is also not well received in the comments.
- DiamondDog001 writes: “I hope that Blizzard can find a home away from Activision.”
- Old Elhorgus writes: “The last 10 years felt more like a broken house.”
Other comments criticize the layoffs of 800 employees in early 2019. Users like Crazozourus write: “We [Blizzard, note from the editor] sent 800 of our employees home and told them not to come back.”
Also, Warcraft 3: Reforged, which seems to have been forgotten by Blizzard, is held against the developer.
- A. Wolfe writes: “Warcraft 3 was my home, longer than anything else, it’s a shame it has been forgotten and left behind.”
Despite the many likes, predominantly such comments can be found under the video.
