During a major tournament of World of Warcraft, a bug caused problems. The error must be quite embarrassing for Blizzard.
In an MMORPG like World of Warcraft, there are always small bugs that spoil the fun of playing. Many are gradually fixed, but some particularly annoying errors remain for a long time. In the Temple of Sethraliss, one of the current dungeons of WoW, there have been several “ball bugs” for a long time. These also occurred during the “Mythic Dungeon International,” the big dungeon tournament of WoW.
What are ball bugs? In the dungeon Temple of Sethraliss, players must smuggle two balls through a room full of enemies and insert them into a device. This is not easy at all, as the foes can pick up the balls and carry them back the other way. When the ball is passed between friend and foe, there are numerous errors, including:
- Additional balls appear
- The balls are no longer clickable for players
- A ball disappears permanently
Especially the last two errors are annoying as they ruin the dungeon. All these errors have been known since the beta of Battle for Azeroth. So, at least since the summer of 2018.
What happened in the tournament? In the Mythic Dungeon International, the Method guild team was just passing through the mentioned section when the error occurred. The rogue Fragrr wanted to bring the ball to its socket solo when it suddenly dissolved and did not return.
How did Blizzard react? Due to the error, the race between Method and Puolukka had to be repeated. Method won. Whether Blizzard will finally fix the error remains to be seen.
There was mockery beforehand: In recent months, there has been a lot of criticism regarding the ball errors. In the community, it was even a common saying to hope that the error would occur in the MDI. Because only then would an error be fixed in a timely manner. That it has now happened exactly like that pleases the fans but also invites mockery and ridicule.
What is your opinion on this matter? Is it good that a long-known bug finally received so much attention?
