How does character development work in Elyon? The new MMORPG features an interesting system consisting of 3 different components:
- There are the rune stones that grant you bonus attributes and special effects
- Through the skill trees, which are called “Mana Awakening” in the game, you unlock additional abilities and bonuses
- With a special artifact system, you can directly influence how your abilities work
With this system, two players can play the same class but interpret it completely differently. Additionally, Elyon offers a total of 6 classes that already differ significantly in their playstyles.
Additionally, as is common for MMORPGs, there is a gear system with equipment of various rarities – White, Green, Blue, Purple, and Gold – as well as different sets and set bonuses.

Rune stones provide you with general bonuses
What are rune stones? Rune stones grant you additional bonuses when you add them to your equipment. Depending on your character’s level and equipment, you even unlock new abilities. For each rune line, you can choose one bonus.
There are 7 types of rune stones:
- Attack (red) – Offensive
- Control (orange) – Crowd Control
- Fate (yellow) – Effect chance
- Support (light green) – Ally support
- Protection (blue) – Defensive
- Awakening (purple) – High risk, high reward
- Balance (gray) – Has no rune attribute but a general use
How do you unlock the rune stones? You can place runes in your equipment. Depending on which runes you use, you unlock corresponding effects.
Skill trees can be combined freely, but never go down
How do the skill trees work? As soon as you reach level 35 and complete the quest “Blooming Power”, you will receive the “Mana Awakening”. Essentially, this refers to familiar skill trees.
There are 3 starting points for Mana Awakening:
- Launch (red) – Mainly increases damage and reduces cooldowns
- Mentality (green) – Focuses on energy recovery and increasing attributes
- Agility (yellow) – Reduces costs for dodging, dashes, and other effects
At the beginning, you must decide on a starting point and can then follow the path. In the middle, there is then the option to switch to the other branches. However, you can only move on the same level or upward. Once a direction is chosen, it never goes back down.
Abilities can be completely modified – This is how it works
What are the artifacts? With the help of artifacts, you can influence and change any ability. The abilities have four different variations that can completely alter them.
The abilities thus gain an additional effect such as stun or dash, hit more targets, or even become a ranged attack.
You unlock the different variations through various means:
- The base skill and the first variation are learned by leveling up
- The second variation can be purchased or unlocked through quests
- The third adjustment has different ways of being unlocked depending on the ability
Can builds be saved? Yes. In the lower right corner of the screenshot, you can see the save function. You start with one slot, and additional save slots can be unlocked with in-game currency. However, the price doubles with each additional slot.
