A new trailer for the space epic Elite Dangerous has been released, promising nothing good for the human race.
Elite Dangerous is the brainchild of David Braben, who caused a stir in the 80s and 90s with the “Elite” games. These games featured the “Thargoids,” an insect-like alien race.
Since the big sci-fi MMO Elite Dangerous has been out since December 2014, players have been searching for clues that the Thargoids are also making their presence known in the MMO. And it looks like they have found something.
In January, the clues have increased that a “First Contact” is imminent.
The PAX Easter Trailer “Unknown” for Elite Dangerous is here
This new trailer was shown at PAX East, currently happening in Boston:
Two spaceships land on a planet, get into their land vehicles, and set out to search for something in a mysterious cave.
Hovering ominously above the scene is an alien base. The way the trailer is edited, accompanied by music, speaks to the Hollywood-trained alien expert: “Oh, oh. I’m really glad I’m sitting here at home and definitely not stuck on this shit planet at the end of the universe, waiting to become alien food.” A wise life choice!
Or to put it more kindly: When the “First Contact” in Elite Dangerous occurs, it won’t be friendly.
One may be curious about what is happening in Elite Dangerous. The previous complaint that there was boredom in space: Elite Dangerous is indeed gigantic, but there isn’t much to do, may soon be a thing of the past.
What do you think of the trailer and the images? Are you looking forward to getting acquainted with friendly, cuddly aliens?
The space MMO is also set to be released on PS4.
