In Elite Dangerous, it has previously been extremely lucrative to transport passengers over long distances. However, the mechanics behind it were bugged and resulted in too much money. Therefore, the transport rewards have been nerfed. Not everyone is happy about this.
In the space sandbox Elite Dangerous, you can earn in-game money in many ways. You can, among other things:
- Hunt criminals as bounty hunters
- Mine minerals
- Discover new planets
- Fight against aliens
But if you want to rake in the big bucks, you can refit your ship into a space bus and focus on large-scale passenger transport (bulk).
However, the golden days for space bus entrepreneurs are now over!
Passenger transport was too good, error in the algorithm
The phenomenal amounts that one could cash in through “bulk transports” of people to remote stations were not intended. According to the developers at Frontier, this was an error in the algorithm that calculated the reward in relation to the distance traveled within the system (star to target).
This has now been fixed. From now on, there will be less money for the space bus drivers. However, one can still transport people through the galaxy as usual. And the VIP transport of individuals is still lucrative and not affected by the change. Additionally, the developers want to take a closer look at the transport missions and possibly change them again.
Many players upset about space bus nerf
The nerf of rewards for passenger transport was well received by some players. After all, it was a kind of exploit. Others, however, are dissatisfied because the bus operators may keep their undeserved profits and have harmed the economy in the game.
And then there are the players who made tons of money with the transport service. Many of them are angry that the developers have ruined their business.
They found the rewards for transport fair and adequate. Somehow you have to make money, and as a space bus driver, it was quick and easy to do.
With the new update Beyond, you can finally earn more money as a bounty hunter in Elite Dangerous.
