What you need to know about the update: Update 40 and the associated Endless Archive
is a free addition to the base game.
In addition to this major expansion for the base game, there are also a few new features, enhancements, and improvements, which you can read about on the official website (via elderscrollsonline.com).
PC players can already enjoy the new content of the update in the game. Console players do not have to wait much longer and can look forward to the update on November 14, 2023.

What we know about the expansion: Endless Archive
is the name of the new PvE activity that expands the base game with this update. In it, you will face endless waves of enemies as you venture deeper into the infinite areas of an ancient library.
You can start this new activity either with your selected companions in groups, duos, or as a solo player.
It is promised that no run will be like another, despite recurring locations. This is mainly ensured by the dynamic and randomly generated encounters with various enemies.
After completing two phases, you can face a boss challenge to finish a run. After five runs, you will be ready to face the final boss.
Always be well prepared, because those who fail in the endless archives can fall deeply
To be better equipped against the dangers of the endless archive, you have two blessings available:
- Verses: temporary enhancements that are only active until the end of a section
- Visions: long-lasting enhancements for your entire run
However, if you fail three times, your run ends, and you must start over. But you should not be discouraged by that. Because the archive promises: the greater the danger, the better the rewards.
As endless as the archive should also be the rewards. These include unique collectibles, item sets, and much more. Of particular interest are the class set items, which are said to provide strong enhancements to the selected class skill lines.
