The MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online offers hundreds of hours of gaming fun. ESO players can take on quests, explore dungeons, compete in PvP against others, or set up their own home. However, players come up with further features that would benefit the MMORPG in 2019.
What do ESO fans wish for? The players’ desire for a new class often arises. Especially the concept of a playable Necromancer is very popular.
But changes, such as new weapon skill lines, guild halls, and a raid finder, are also being discussed by players. We present to you the wishes of the fans of The Elder Scrolls Online.
ESO currently runs like a good TV series
This is how The Elder Scrolls Online is currently expanded: The MMORPG is regularly expanded with new content: something new comes about every 3 months. Four DLCs and major updates are released each year, with the two DLCs in recent years always being a “chapter”, a large stand-alone expansion.
As chief developer Matt Firor revealed in an interview, players want more ESO content. ESO runs like a successful TV series.

- However, the core of most content updates consists of new areas, dungeons, and quests, through which players can experience the world of ESO. More content is on the way.
- Gameplay changes, such as new classes or skill lines, find their way into the game less frequently.
Consequently, most players’ wishes are not about new zones but about features that they believe are still missing from the MMORPG.
Magical melee weapons and personal guild halls
This is what Magicka users wish for: In ESO, every class can use every type of weapon. Unfortunately, all melee weapons scale with the stamina resource, which means that Magicka users miss out on a lot of damage when they use stamina weapons.
Mages are currently limited to two types of weapons, namely destruction and healing staffs.
Mages who want to tank use an ice staff through which they can build aggro.

Many players repeatedly ask developer Zenimax about the implementation of a melee weapon that scales with Magicka.
This is what the developers say about the wish for new weapons: However, according to the developers, it takes a lot of effort to implement a new weapon type into the game. Moreover, the new weapon would primarily cause balance problems at the beginning.

This is why players wish for personal guild halls: Since ESO introduced housing in early 2017, players have made good use of the new feature. Since then, new plots of land have been regularly released where players can let loose.
Through regular updates, developer Zenimax is refining the feature. The latest released update greatly accelerates the setup process.
Especially the larger plots seem to be made for functioning as guild halls. For example, the huge Psijik Villa, which was given to many players for free, offers more than enough space.
In addition to personal guild halls, players also wish for the ability to compete against each other in guild wars.

Players want spears
This is why players want spears as a new weapon: In The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, players could fight with spears. But in The Elder Scrolls Online, players cannot use spears.
Only the Templar class conjures magical spears out of light in some abilities, which they use to smash opponents. However, this was not a separate weapon, only a skill usage.
As a result, players of The Elder Scrolls Online have been wishing for a spearfighting skill line for years that would allow them to fight with spears. Particularly the weapon combination of spear and shield would be well received by many players.
What speaks against spears: However, just as there are various issues with a Magicka-based melee weapon, there are also complications. Developing the new weapon would take a lot of time and could significantly disrupt the PvP balance at the beginning.
Moreover, there is the issue that spears function differently from the current weapons. The team would therefore have to develop completely new animations.
Should players have the option to play as a Necromancer?
This is the new class ESO players wish for: The Elder Scrolls Online was expanded with the class Guardian as part of the Morrowind DLC. This allows players to choose between five different classes.
However, since ESO only establishes three skill lines through the class, the class’s influence is not as significant as new players may think.

Again and again, the wish for a Necromancer arises in the player forums. Players want to resurrect defeated creatures and let them fight for them.
Some players believe, however, that a Necromancer should focus less on direct damage and more on weakening opponents through debuffs while team members receive buffs.

What speaks against the Necromancer: However, the concept of a Necromancer is heatedly debated in the community. Some players believe that Necromancers would not fit into the concept of ESO, as most necromancers pursue dark intentions, while player characters often help individuals in need.
Moreover, developer Zenimax already faces enough challenges balancing the existing five classes. A new sixth class would complicate this process.
Players want to open Trials to the masses
This is what players wish for the hard PvE content: For the hardest PvE content in The Elder Scrolls Online, the Trials, players currently need fixed groups that they must form themselves.
However, especially for the easier Trials, existing players wish for a tool that assembles groups. Similar to the already existing group finder for the dungeons of the game.

However, the current group finder of the game is plagued by some issues. Players list themselves as tanks or healers, even though they actually want to play as damage dealers, just to be assigned to a group faster and benefit from the experience point bonus given to players looking for groups.
This is what players wish for regarding the normal group finder: To combat this problem, players who register for Trials should not receive experience point bonuses.
Moreover, one player suggests that healers and tanks must meet certain requirements to register as one of the two roles.
Healers should have certain healing abilities equipped, while tanks must have at least 30,000 health and an ability that draws aggro.
