In the fantasy MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online, there is a bad mood worldwide, the Friday patch not only brought fresh content but also a bundle of issues. Mein MMO summarizes the most annoying ones.
There was already some trouble when Zenimax did not release the patch before the servers came back up. For players with a slow DSL connection, 6 gigabytes of patch meant a day without gaming. Some TESO players wonder why it is not possible to release the patch for download a week in advance like it is with other games.
Technical Issues
- A memory leak was also found with patch 1.1.2 and has been confirmed by Zenimax. The related rage thread in the official forum has 9 pages, and Zenimax promises a hotfix soon and advises to spend as little time as possible in the character selection screen when experiencing these issues.
- Some players have issues starting The Elder Scrolls Online at all and are dealing with crash reports – error code 301.
- There are additional problems with buggy quests, missing achievements, and mini-rollbacks. Zenimax reassures that the missing achievements are not really gone but are just a problem with the user interface. The rollbacks should stop with today’s hotfix, and quests that were changed by the patch need to be aborted and accepted again if necessary.
Big Trouble in Little Cyrodiil
- The veteran enemies were much too strong when the patch went live, and players had little chance when they grouped up. This was a balancing error. It has been fixed with a hotfix, and the guards have been reset to their state before the patch. The German community manager Kai Schober promises an improvement:
The sliders for the veteran content were set a bit too high. We will revert that.
- The PvP campaign Scourge was closed without warning. The closure was intentional, but it should have happened only after a warning period. There was an error in the patch, and now the campaign remains closed.
- Some players believe the Nightblade is too weak. They had hoped for improvements from the patch, but that has not occurred. Zenimax reassures players that this is an ongoing process that is still underway.
- In Kargstein, the strength of the fortress guards has been increased. Players who prefer to travel in small groups are now complaining that their playstyle is being nerfed. While a zerg doesn’t care how strong a guard is, stronger guards mean massive problems for them.
And also…
- According to the fan site Tamrielfoundry, a nerf was introduced that affects the ability “Harsh Strikes” of the Templars. The German community manager responded to complaints in the official forum:
The cooldown of this skill has been raised from 0.5 seconds to 1.2 seconds to balance the high damage of the ability. We have read the feedback and agree that combat now sometimes seems to be stuck. Therefore, we will lower the cooldown in the next patch and instead increase the costs.
- Additionally, players are complaining that item properties have been changed retroactively. If the items had had their current stats, players say they would never have purchased them with the hard-earned points.
- Some players demand free respecs due to the massive balance changes, as is customary in other games.
P.S.: Paul Sage has now said that they will do everything possible to ensure that the console version is released in 2014. However, they cannot guarantee that. What is so amazing about the obvious statement that someone cannot guarantee something a hundred percent is not entirely clear to us, but we want it to be said as well.
